THIS IS A TOUGH ONE. Nobody's Diary is fantastic and is probably the one I could imagine Andy Bell singing the most (for obvious reasons). However, for the sheer energy of the track, I think it has to be Don't Go

He's already remixed it. Better than nothing, I suppose.

"Only You" for me, surely one of the greatest debut singles by anyone of all time. So good not even The Flying Pickets or Enrique Iglesias in Spanish could ruin it! Closely followed by "Nobody's Diary", closely followed by "Don't Go", closely followed by "Situation" (all indeed 11/10 tracks) followed by [sizeable gap] "The Other Side of Love". Like I once said in my Yazoo catalogue track-by-track review thread, the latter would be a career high for some new romantic also-ran like Howard Jones or CLASSIX NOUVEAUX, but by their stellar single standards, it's a bit lacking. For a long time I only knew the 'Re-mixed Extended Version' as that was tacked on as a bonus track on Upstairs at Eric's while the regular version was bizarrely not even included on their Only Yazoo GH! "Mr Blue" would be my album track of choice, and would have been an amazing 'posthumous' farewell single, it's just too heart-rending

I was going to say, I expected you to go for one of their more melodic offerings instead of cool-kids club staple "Situation"

NAR, but it tickled me how the very first sentences on their Wiki blurb go: Classix Nouveaux were an English 1980s New Wave band. They had number one hits in Poland, Portugal, Yugoslavia, Israel, Iceland, and other countries.

They had an album out last year called The Collection, which is CHOK A BLOK with hits and remixes. I'm not sure if it has everything you're looking for but it's cheap cheap cheap.

I went for 'Nobody's diary', but they're all 10/10. 'Midnight' is also 10/10 for me.

Yes, there's something which theoretically is so wrong about the music and the vocal that it loops right round to something remarkable.

Basically, yes. It was purely a working relationship and when they began to disagree on direction, there was no friendship to fall back on so they split. Ultimately Moyet had success on her own for a good decade or so and, after a one-off as/with The Assembly and a low-key start, Clarke had success with Erasure so no-one was kicking a can down the street.
