In my mate's bed. Maccies breakfast consumed. The 20 minute trip home is looming on the horizon.

We went to Isle of Wight Pride yesterday. I wasn't in the mood at all and just wanted to be at home with heathcliff. But Mandy was having a lovely time...she got so ridiculously drunk with our friends that a 5 minute walk home took us 25 minutes.
She then spent 2 hours vomitting in the bathroom and I couldn't sleep because I was convinced she was going to knock herself out or choke on her own sick.
She's still passed out and I've had 3 hours sleep 🤦🏻‍♀️

Happy bisexual flamers day.

I am quite enjoying the mass hysteria the coming heat wave is coming before it’s even started.

We are getting the same here and they think it will “only” reach 33 degrees which is still pretty damn hot for this country but not quite the 40 degrees you guys down south have to look forward to.

As banal as it is to waffle on about the heat, I am concerned about my parents. I call them earlier to suggest they close south facing windows / shut the blinds and it was just blank faces.

I thought it’d be a little cooler up north but it’s looking like 38 in Yorkshire too, no doubt my parents will be sat in the garden having a glass of wine at 3pm.

I was supposed to be doing a car boot this morning but got let down at the last minute. I now have boxes of clutter all over the house that I can't do anything with for at least a week

Yes, same. My mother at least doesn't like heat and so won't be one of those rubbing olive oil on her skin and heading out to sit in it with a roll of tin foil.

And she was pregnant in '76 with my sister, so accepts that it was pretty much hell.

We've got all our blinds down as most of our windows are south facing.

I'm not excited about making fudge over the next couple of days.

I was wondering if enough people would be out in it to warrant opening the shop. But apparently you're only getting a maximum of 30°.

I will be openly hating you tomorrow with my dying breaths.

We just shouldn’t be getting these temperatures here. I don’t mind it when I am abroad and can sit in a lovely air conditioned apartment to cool off now and again. I don’t even have a POOL, other than an inflatable one for the DOG.

Is it TOMORROW it could hit 40 down South? Our local weather guru has said Tuesday will be the hottest day here.

My arms are a bit itchy. I've been slathering on sunscreen all week though.

And my poor bald head resembles an oil slick before I leave the house.

Precisely how respectable is bisexuality though when more often than not, it’s represented by an entire culture of suburban cis “Married”s on Grindr?

“Married”s who are more than happy for their wife’s to believe they are straight (year after year), when in actual fact they have at least one minor untreated STI (from playing around at literally ANY opportunity with ANY actual random who inexplicably finds sunglasses/ covid mask face pics acceptable)?

“Married”s who let the strength of their actual marriages rest upon wives NOT visiting their GP to investigate the source of that annoying and mysterious ‘itch’ that appeared out of nowhere and never quite seems to go away prior to getting a diagnosis and reluctantly coming to an inevitable conclusion based on conduct they have not personally indulged in?
Have I stumbled onto Mumsnet?

30 is enough to ruin our fudge, so we need to be careful. And the shop will more than likely be very quiet as everyone will be at the beach.

Do you get much of a sea breeze? That's about the only thing that saves us.

It's hottest here tomorrow, but looking at some forecasts (not that I'm obsessed, you understand), it does appear the further north you go, Tuesday gets hotter.

For us it's 38/33 Mon/Tues. And the hottest part of Tuesday is predicted to be morning & lunchtime - it drops quite quickly after that.

Yes I think we are 29 Monday and 33 Tuesday. Surely a THUNDERSTORM must be brewing for the temperatures to drop so much between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bristol is a port city, but we're still about 10 miles from the coast. And that's if you call the Severn Estuary the coast. I don't.

Tomorrow's my first day back at the office since I went off for Easter so I'm hoping we get sent home. There's also a new member of staff who's been there two months that I've spoken to on the phone but never met, I'm sure they'll have warned her about me already though :D

@lolly have you planned much for the next couple of days? I do wonder if I’ve missed a trick not buying an air cooler. And wondering also if there’s any point putting towels in the freezer.

Other than moaning and whimpering, precious little.

We've got a couple of small fans which are reasonably effective in the bedroom, so I'm hoping they will help us sleep over the next couple of nights. I've done the towels in the freezer before and it's better than nothing. Certainly I'd say put a couple in there in case you do need them. And we've got some of those thin towels which if you soak and flick are lovely around the head or over the shoulders.

I'm more concerned about getting to and from work. Monday and Tuesday are my worst days in terms of distance. Wednesday and Thursday I'm in a surgery only about 2.5 miles away so I'm happy walking to and from, but Monday and Tuesday are round trips of 12 and 10 miles on public transport, which I am not looking forward to. I think I'll probably leave early and go in by public transport, and probably get an Uber home.

Apparently wet towels in the freezer, hung over the front of a fan, is a really good way to cool down
