Bitter Tuesday writes hateful tags

I don't agree with "delete them". That just leaves it entirely open to people still being cunts without any chance of reprimand or the target being able to respond.

You're right, I hadn't thought about that. Maybe only delete them afterwards, if the person the tag is about wants them to be removed.

@Chlammy I think your presence here in the last few months has been really positive to the site- and that comes from someone who has slagged you off in the past. You don't need to apologise for the way this makes you feel.

I am sorry if me bringing this up has also not been productive, but, having stewed on it all last night, I didn't feel I could just leave it. I hope you understand.

Take whatever time you need, but please come back to us. Yes it's "only" an internet forum, but I think a lot of us feel it is actually a lot more than that. You are welcome and loved here, remember that.

In other news, the Kindacool situation being brought up is something I've found problematic in recent times too- and I absolutely have been guilty of being a cunt to him. I feel the same way about some of the Kala stuff that gets said as well.

Thanks for posting @Chlammy, glad to see you’re still around. I’ve already said to the other illuminoopy members that I think you did the right thing by coming to us yesterday about the tags. I can see a lot were deleted afterwards so some action was taken. I think in the interim until we resolve the add-on situation it might be worth pinning a reminder for what is and isn’t acceptable with tags - I’ve said before that I’m not keen on the idea of removing tags without being asked to do so by the people they’re about, but more clearly defined guidelines would mean there’d be pre-determined action we could take if someone crosses the line.

UGH! RULES!

I just don’t see how rules are going to help. That’s entirely against our ethos. Let it be a free for all if you like, but then people know who has said what so they have the chance to respond.

I really do fail to see what the issue is here.

Were the tags about Beverley in the Jeff Goldblum discussion removed by the mods?

There was once upon a time we’d encourage tags to be revealed so we COULD have a row and all the ensuing drama :D

I agree we should have a vote rather than basing it on the few people here now but I’ve not noticed a single person yet say “keep them closed” outside the mod team.

Only Mugatu has suggested some ideas for the vote thus far, we're listening/discussing, but short of registering your displeasure, you're not giving us a lot to work with?

I presume people no longer want to know about how I thought my cheese baguette and banana kept me WIDE AWAKE.
Can I just get a clarification on whether these were eaten or just to tide you over until Amazon could deliver the real thing?

Hold on, I must have said loads of different options in the past six hours or so :D

Votes upon votes upon votes, this is madness. There are at least four people who agree with me.

Does anyone have any alternative suggestions? I think I covered all of the options that should be in the poll. Hammer out how the rules will be enforced later.

From my perspective I don’t get how letting people say whatever they want and dealing with it by having a kick off in the threads is better than having a set of guidelines to follow.

Being NEW I don’t want to step onto anyone’s toes but I see no reason why there can’t be a POLL with as many options as people want with the most popular one being implemented.

If your guidelines make you feel better, then FINE. But no one is going to pay the BLINDEST bit of attention to them :D

Enforcing the guidelines always ends up in a kick-off in the threads (or in your Facebook Messenger, if you're particularly lucky), it's a vicious circle. Chlammy's situation has been happening for ages, the current soft-touch enforcement just doesn't work.

We’ve literally all said over and over let’s do a vote so that everyone on here can have a say.........

Of course you’d have to come in and stir the pot :eyes:

Is it stirring the pot though? I mean it’s being made out to be a massive forum-wide problem when really it’s only a small number of people leaving tags that are personal?

And I asked what you want the options on the vote to be, only Mugatu has come up with something, which then Sheena in part disagreed with.

We're not being obtuse, you're just not making it very easy for us.

One small point which then Mugatu agreed with me on.

Me and Sheena disagreed (then agreed) about how insulting tags should be punished. I think we agree on voting to decide whether tags should be visible or not.

The punishment can be sorted out later, that's one for you guys to decide.

EXCUSE ME RONALD! I suggested at the beginning of PAGE 2 that we should make all tag authors known. If that’s not an IDEA what is? :oi:

I'm just trying to get an answer for the rest of us. There's broad agreement on the options I suggested.

Yeah, well some of us still have to go to work of a day. In the last week, I've had to learn a whole new job in two and a half days that usually takes 4 weeks, been called a prick for wearing a mask, been called a cunt for not wearing a mask, have slept like a hostage with the crabs, been circled and followed by a creep on a bike on my way to work when there was literally no-one around who could help if something went wrong and been shouted at by a colleague for doing the exact thing that was asked of me so you'll need to excuse me if I don't jump to attention just because you've declared it appropriate.
