Bob Saget DEAD

A sitcom like Golden Girls was a HUGE HIT right out of the gate everywhere around the world, it had nothing to do with any PECULIAR SENSIBILITIES of the British sense of humour :eyes:

AMERICAN WHOLESOME CRAP has always been very popular in Britain so Full House not being a hit in the UK is hardly a matter of taste, more likely a matter of what channel/time it was shown in etc. It's basically another version of Growing Pains, The Cosby Show etc.
I’m not quite sure you understood my point (or why you have to be quite so arrogant in your response, but that’s your choice) - a sitcom like the Golden Girls (and it is just one example - there are others) had a dry, sarcastic and often caustic sense of humour. That is reflective of a certain vein of British humour and it is evident in many of the most successful British sitcoms. In my view that is why more wholesome, all American sitcoms, for want of a better term, didn’t fair quite so well and I don’t quite agree with some of the examples listed here that are deemed as being successes in this country.

But it has to be more reasons than possible cultural differences in humor like the slot time, which channel it was on, etc right?
Cause some of the ones we've discussed as very successful aren't particularly dry.

Surprised you perceived my reply as arrogant, I'm very DRY and SARCASTIC, some would say CAUSTIC. Must be all that British sense of humour rubbing off!

split the thread cut the sensual tension rest in peace bob saget from america's funniest home videos!

It never had any for me, it was all about LESSONS to be learned regarding your family like virtues, affection, (some) school issues like dealing with drugs, bullying, coping with a dead family member, etc.
The one where Stephanie’s friend was being abused by his parents really impacted me as a kid

and so the one where Stephanie was pressured into trying cigarettes with the baddies inside the restrooms

Also, kinda surprised tbh that Kimmy Gibler grew up to become a fully functional adult and a mother of one without any childhood trauma :eyes:
