I've been up since 8am! Didn't really drink that much in the end last night. Might head into town a bit later for a wander round the sales.
 
Taking the little rupert to the indoor slope to test his new skis. It's going to be rammed I'm sure, he's in a hyper/annoying mood and I'm tired and grumpy because I'm already thinking about getting back into work tomorrow and to be honest I just wanted to sit and eat cold roast potatoes and drink red wine all day. MERRY CHRISTMAS.
 
Just back from town. Bit of a zoo so I fucked it off. Got my Kylie calendar tho' - that's my traditional Boxing day purchase. Bit of a smack in the mouth that the 3CD version of that compilation is already down to 7.99. Bloody record companies.
 
HMVs sale is a bit shit btw which is probably a sign they've done OK this year. Dropped prices on a bunch of CDs that they know will have been Xmas pressies (Westlife, Rod Stewart) a bought-in vinyl sale similar to the one they had earlier in the year (i.e. not repriced stock) and the usual DVD/Blu-Ray stuff, largely the 5th reissue of something everyone has and so on.
 
Off to visit my dad again in the hospital. He's feeling a bit better so is getting quite belligerent now about them "keeping him prisoner". He can't remember things from one minute to the next but he remembered them saying he could probably go home on Christmas Eve and has forgotten that his temperature spiked so he needed more antibiotics and that's why they couldn't let him out. The nurse had to ring my mum at home yesterday morning to talk to him and then asked if she could come early because he kept crying thinking nobody was visiting but they couldn't get through to him that visiting didn't start till 11am and it was only 9 o'clock.
 
Think my waistline expanded a fair bit since yesterday.

Now planning for the annual visit to the rest of the relatives in the coming days. 100 mile journey across what is almost a charging desert in an EV that does 65-70 miles at this time of year. Most of the chargers I look at on the mapping apps are reported to be broken in some way, which is really not doing much for my confidence!

Press be like "EV charging network is not really there yet and a bit unreliable, stick with diesel for now"
Most of the EV community be like "pfft, evil oil-funded press with their smears and lies"
Me as a realist: No, it really is quite shit. In Northern England anyway. I don't mind that what used to be a 2 hour journey is now 3 due to charging time, that's a small sacrifice I'm willing to make for cleaner air. It's when it's a 4 or 5 hour journey because you're touring around trying to find chargers that actually work in an area that is already extremely sparse. But don't worry, the Tories (who for some inexplicable reason about 90% of EV drivers love*) have promised to spend 1bn on it! My eyes almost rolled out of their sockets...


* (Probably because most are filthy rich and drive Teslas)

This is the reason I won't consider electric yet, it's too faffy trying to organise a route that would enable me to charge when I needed. At least with petrol the motorway's a safe bet that they'll have some.
 
Just reminded myself I have work tomorrow. Not that I was about to go wild or anything but it's an odd week.

It's probably a lot easier in the South, but the forgotten part of the country, or in Wales... ehhh yeah you'd want to be pretty keen.
 
Glad I actually did something today rather than just sitting eating food and drinking. Now eating food and drinking though.
 
Finally got my rabbit onesie and new dressing gown on, made myself a snowball and reclined on the sofa with a tub of Quality Street, packet of fags, lighter and ashtray. Loaded up Elf and hadn't even got to the end of the opening titles before my phone rang with a mum-mither. It's taken three days to find myself a quiet hour to veg out in peace. Woe betide anybody else who disturbs my (late) Christmas!

Because the telly's on pause and the dog's in the garden it's really quiet here in the dining-room and I've just heard my next door neighbour let out a proper rip-roaring fart in their kitchen :D
 
Just had to tell Baby Kylie that Father Christmas wasn't going to come again tonight, he only comes once a year. He seemed so sad :(

..... okay, I even made myself a little queasy. I'll see myself out.
