Brit Awards Nominees - 2022 (1 Viewer)

Yes is this a usual award? Or one they have cobbled together because Ed didn't win the Artist or song of the year
It isn’t a usual award and it wasn’t even among the awards when the nominees were announced a couple of months ago.

God he’s awful. Loses every category to Adele so they have to invent an award for him and give him two performances. :eyes:

Mo at that bloody bar is getting right on my nerves

"VIBES"

Double Sheeran was quite unnecessary too, this show does not need this last half hour as it just seems to be Mo and Maya telling us how wonderful it is to be there.

that was so drab. No GLAMMA. Adele was boring too. I wanted a MEDLEY

She lost International Artist to Senhit, but they did give her best grime
Oh good. Did Senhit also get her special recognition award for most stickers sold?

Only fair after Efendi STOLE International Breakthrough from her last year.

She said "I understand why the award had to change, but I just wanna say that I love being a woman"

Bit of a reach to say that's evidence of TERF-ism, but I doubt @Pingu will be the only one to question it.

Although she could have got up in a dress with adult human female written on it and @Jark would make an excuse for her.

since when is saying that you're proud to be a woman terf-ism? :D jesus

it's hardly something to shit stir about either, when there are real terfs causing genuine harm

Oh SHUSH. I’m not plucking it out of nowhere, obviously I don’t think she’s a TERF but I’m quite sure there’ll be a certain type of person who will respond to what she said and twist it to suit their agenda.

Becky Hill was the highlight, her response was very sweet.

Little Simz and her mum was sweet too, her performance was also a highlight.

I thought I Drink Wine might rocket up the charts but cannot see it on the spotify daily top 50

That only goes up to last night doesn’t it? It’ll presumably appear tomorrow if it had any effect.

From Music Week:

Spotify has reported a post-BRITs snapshot of streaming data for winning artists.

The big impact so far has been for Best New Artist winner and performer Little Simz.

Off the back of her medley performance, Little Simz saw an 812% spike for Introvert and a 594% spike for Woman. Overall, Simz saw a 365% spike in streams for her music.

Spotify measured the increase based on UK track streams during a one-hour period after the BRITs on February 8, compared to the same time a week earlier.

Adele, who won three awards, saw a 137% uplift in Spotify streams for I Drink Wine, which she performed at the ceremony.

Dave, who won the genre award for Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap, was joined by Fredo, Meekz, Giggs and Ghetts to close the show with a rendition of In The Fire. The track saw an uplift in streams of 217% on Spotify.

Alternative/Rock winner Sam Fender saw a 79% uplift in streams following his award win and performance of Seventeen Going Under.

I Drink Wine was at #91 with 74k streams yesterday. If that % uplift in ManicKangaroo's article held for the day (and assuming streaming levels were the same), she'd go up to about #18.

This is a bit misleading - the big uplifts from Little Simz and Dave are coming from small bases

Sheeran, Adele and Sam Fender are getting the biggest lift overall from The Brits.

Why would anyone ever want to hear that DIRGE again after seeing the perf :D

I expect Simz will see a decent album boost - she feels like an album artist to me.

I didn't even bother to watch Adele if I'm honest. I saw her do that song at the Palladium already.

Little Simz and Sam Fender were great though.

I'm struggling to comprehend why Adele is so ridiculously popular now. 21 was a great album, but everything since has been quite samey and not as well produced.
