Fair enough. Maybe I knew subconsciously realised that it will one day cause the end of the forum
I WAS planning to say some very unflattering things about the Ed Sheeran Christmas single getting nominated.

Please don't cancel me, but I miss the individual male & female artist categories. I'm amazed Kate Bush hasn't been nominated for anything. Normally the Brits shove a nomination her way if she bends over and breaks wind.

I think you’ll be fine. I look forward to a richly deserved backlash over them coming up with an all male shortlist for British Artist of the Year in only the second year they have done this.

It's the all male-ness of that category that prompted my post.

I know what you mean. Of course social progress is better but it means you’ll never get a category like 1988 again where hopefuls Alison Moyet and Kate Bush went head to head with chart powerhouses Kim Wilde, Samantha Fox and Sinitta. Mini gay me salivated over the Radio 1 profile breakdown show featuring all five.

Fred Again makes electronic music. I like quite a bit of his stuff. Surprised to see he's made a breakthrough of late.

I miss the days when Des'ree was our best British female

What on earth is a Bad Boy Chiller Crew? They look like the afterbirth of Goldie Lookin' Chain.

I'm stunned that Geri Halliwell managed to be nominated in two different years and Mel C only managed one!!

Rina Sawayama getting a best NEW artist nom is a bit weird.
Isn't it a token nod to make up for the debacle of her not being nominated before because she didn't have a British passport, but has lived here since she was four years old?

I guess so, but I feel they could have done the same with a more suitable category. She's been plugging away for a good few years now!

I think they mean people who look like Rina are 'new' to them.

She'd have been in 'Best British Female' if it was still a thing. Still, it's the Brits and they've always been a bit rubbish. I still remember that award they made up to give Steps something to take home.

Don’t they usually have some sort of legacy award? Maybe she’ll win that.

Getting rid of gendered awards and then only nominating men for Artist of the Year. YEESH.

Kate Bush has been announced as the winner of the inaugural ‘Do Something Madam’ Award.

Does Sam have any chance to win best new artist? I don't even recognise the others.

Interplanetary Criminal was making garage bootlegs and playing to basements of a few hundred 12 months ago. Wild.

Tune is a banger, to be fair.

That was their own fault for screwing them out of Best New Act prior as they weren’t cool enough. I mean A1, Liberty X, S Club 7 etc all got a Brit. The fact a much bigger act in the same genre got paid dust is rubbish.
