A new album seems to be upcoming and they've started teasing some songs.

This one sounds SO GOOD:

The second clip seems to be a less finished track and is a bit loungey:

Oh get IN ME NOW :disco:

There’s been a real influx of underrated pop returns lately and I’m here for it

No actual new music yet, other than some teases of demos and works in progress, but they've re-released the Shadows mini album:

The remix of the title track is more essential than the reworking of Fire for You.

I got excited when I saw them on my radar but ALAS. Still it's a reminder that I really need to check out that mini album properly because I never really got into them until the album after this one.

Actually this one hasn't grown on me - the initial interest in the lush production has worn off. Might still grow but it's a bit... disappointing? I think I set my expectations too high.

I love it. The verses are unashamedly 80s. The chorus could have done with a bit more OOMPH but that's a common thing with Cannons - I'll probably get over it.

FATE!

I absolutely love this. That backing vocal sample that kicks in from the second verse really lifts it.

The curly do is so good on her.

I see they are properly formatting the physical release of this album too. Probably only stateside mind but good that they are giving it a good push.

Bit early to say but this might be my favourite of the three. I really like the idea of them integrating some retropop sounds, but I do think her voice suits this sort of sultry mellow pop more.

I'm enjoying all three, but I think I still default to the 90s new age of All I Need.

But it's all very promising so far. I do think they've been guilty of being a bit one-trick samey-samey with their sound before. If you'd heard "Fire For You", you didn't really need to hear much else. This time there's a gentle (but not wild) effort to vary and experiment.

I'm feeling their take on cocktail party disco on Carousel and I Get Weak. The second half of the album is mainly more usual Cannons fare, not that it is necessarily a bad thing. Take Me to Tokyo is nicely woozy.

The Tokyo song is the standout. I need another listen - I wish they brought a bit more oomph to proceedings but I do love the commitment to retro sounds and nostalgia.

It's very belated

But why weren't all the gays talking about Light As A Feather? Why did nobody warn me?

It's only the best Kylie song she never recorded

The song from this album for me is “I Get Weak”

Sounds like it’s lifted straight from the Tango In The Night album :disco:

It does feel like they wrote out a list of every middle-aged gay favourite from the 80s and 90s, and added a little sparkly shoegaze over it

Fleetwood Mac was exactly what I also heard with "I Get Weak". "All I Need" is the Pure Moods compilation. "Fool For You" is beautifully morose Mazzy Star. "Photographs" a jangly 90s lesbain a la Scarlet or the Sundays.

Fast becoming my favourite album of the year, even if not strictly groundbreaking.

I think I need to go back to this album then, based on that review.
