Carly Rae Jepsen - Dedicated (new album)

It's all very solid, my first play standouts are This Is What They Say, Fake Mona Lisa, Solo and California. The latter might be the best thing here if only because it's the biggest departure from the general sound. Good work CRJ :disco:

SOLO :disco:

Ordered the CD but gave this a listen last night. I was a little tired so didn't give it the focus it deserved but enjoyed anyway. Solo and California bring up the rear admirably, the latter is definitely a different mood for her.

Her quality control RUNS DEEP (for the most part).

SUMMER LOVE :disco:

It really is tremendous. What a summery, spacey disco groove. I wonder if it came from the mythical Carly goes disco sessions.

So much excellent stuff here. Fake Mona Lisa is so good, even if the abrupt end does suggest not quite finished. Those synths on Comeback. :disco:

Window is probably the one I am least enthralled with.

Now I Don't Hate California is fucking excellent. An incredible closer and a really great song, a whole mood. It alone completely justifies the existence of Side B. Solo is the second best song. Putting them at the end makes the album feel like it ends on such an easy high in comparison to the slightly awkward sequencing at the end of Side A.

My CD arrived today which was unexpectedly organised for one of these 'surprise' releases.

I thought Moopy was all over Carly? There's been like TWO posts since the album release. :D

Anyway, just wanted to say Heartbeat is GORGEOUS.

I've randomly been dipping into Side B quite a bit lately after mostly paying it dust at the time, and Felt This Way is quite the gorgeous little ditty. that chorus wraps itself around you like silk.

This Love Isn't Crazy is a right banger too. in a way it's almost a shame she spunked a record of this quality away as a Side B project :eyes:

i prefer side a (for all its highs - comeback, summer nights and fake mona lisa - there's some stuff on side b i'd never care to hear again) but a combination of both would obviously be best.

The comments seem to think it's somebody called Tori Kelly, maybe the 'emotion' and 'tug of war' clues are RED HERRINGS (coincidentally performing next on The Masked Singer).

Would it be so bad if it was her? Let's face it, it's the most mainstream exposure she'll have had since that duet with the guy from Owl City.

There was also the video with Tom Hanks  Queen of promo.

that's not crj. it's not her voice, i don't think.

also, this show is garbage.

Been in a bit of a CRJ mood of late, revisted this album that never really clicked for me at the time (and still pales in comparison to what came before) there is wealth of unreleased material from this era (between the scrapped disco album and the stuff that didn't make Dedicated or Side B) of questionable quality, but seriously how the fuck did these gems not make either!? They're top tier Carly for me.

Also i always find it curious when the title track of an album never sees the light of day (perhaps she's saving it for the 10 year anniversay edition lol!)
