Carrie Fisher DEAD

I only really know her from Scream 3 but she was cracking in that.

These past few celebrity deaths of the day have been really shit. Stop taking away all of the irreverent LGBT icons!

How active was she in the LGBTQ community? I didn't know people considered her an icon.

She traveled the world to meet people ostracized from the LGBTQ community for being spastics :(

:D Thank God I was free then, because HARRISON FORD had invited me to a community picnic that same night.

Betsy Faye Sharon was truly iconic in her own way.

And I loved her on Ruby Wax's late night round table chat show. The way she spoke about her mental health problems were a revelation

She's definitely in the Dolly Parton school of having a set of jokes she repeated ad infinitum, but as many times as I've heard it the climax of this tribute/roast of George Lucas always cracks me up.

I've had to quit facebook for the night - I know a staggering number of Star Wars fans, it turns out. A very dear friend of mine has posted that one of his most cherished childhood memories is being taken to see Star Wars by his dad as a child. I was taken to The Empire Strikes Back by my dad, thought it was shit, have never seen another SW film and have fonder memories of the Buck Rogers themed restaurant we went to for tea afterwards. Not my night...

I always thought Farrah Fawcett, Carrie Fisher and Debbie Harry were the huge female pop culture icons of the 70s. Oh God :(

I much preferred Michael Crawford in Condorman personally.

Aww Carrie :( Never really loved Star Wars but she was such a character in real life.

It's really freaky because I'm in Los Angeles right now and I was supposed to meet her through a mutual friend like a week ago, but she was called in to hospital and it never happened. I think I did it :(

What the fuck are you?

Don't think that is working. It was this, from Debbie Reynolds on facebook.

Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carries Mother

I'm just honestly devastated by this. George going was hard enough but this has finished me off.

I just keep thinking about poor Billie Lourd :(

And also that KindaCool's fantasy holiday has been ruined. Hope you had travel insurance.

Went to see Rogue One tonight (and the end almost got me misty eyed cause I thought "at least 2016 didn't get Carrie"). Then got the push notification that she died seconds after I got out of my seat.

Fucking hell, what a year.

Leia's scenes (particularly with Han) were the sole part of The Force Awakens that gave me CHILLS. It's amazing how a woman as versatile and talented in multiple areas as Carrie Fisher could still be so AS ONE with that character that as soon as she stepped back into the role you just felt history WASH OVER YOU in the loveliest way possible.

Amazing woman, one of the last properly old school Hollywood stars from that fucked up generation who didn't PR the shit out of themselves and cut a far deeper groove into the fabric of pop culture than most of today's ever will. RIP. :(

:D! The bitter line about only being lookalike and losing out on the Leia role because the real Carrie a Fisher fucked the producer was a rare moment of brilliance in a fucking DREADFUL film.

Incorrect. That film is amazing from beginning to end!

I know she knew someone KC knows but did she know EVERYONE ELSE too?

rest in peace you absolute gem :(

You should have seen what she got me for my last birthday.

TMZ now reporting that Debbie Reynolds has been rushed to hospital with a suspected stroke. Fucks sake.

Poor Debbie :(

It's clear that Carrie and Debbie were very close, in a loving if HIGHLY DYSFUNCTIONAL way. I can only imagine how awful the last few days must have been for Debbie.
