She did great, all things considered

Remarkable that not one of the Vocal Trinity really managed to preserve her voice into her later years :(
 
It's allllll about the residency now - no proper big star tours anymore - they just select a venue and a nice hotel and make you come to them.
 
I imagine whatever she’s having to do to keep her health in check for these shows, a residency must make it a lot more manageable too.

I mean also popping to Paris to see her has to be better than rocking up at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham or similar shitholes. Celin has been through too much to have to put up with such drudgery.

this is just plainly not true :D the Weeknd is on 175 shows and counting on 5 continents. Gaga played 95 shows on 5 continents last year. Madonna toured the world without an album in 2024. Taylor Swift was fucking everywhere with the ERAS TOUR. I mean what.

residencies are no longer restricted to Vegas but for the most part they're not replacing world tours. especially for younger/more current acts.

Absolutely this.

Plus it’s Céline in Paris - she could do 40 shows in 2026-2027 and they’d all sell out.

She was light years more comfortable in French than English (the big 90s ballads in English have a too many sustained notes in places that aren’t fully in her range anymore)
 
A friend is there now, she’s lunging out one of her uber hits. That place seats 44k people - absolutely racking it in!

and on the setlist said

a LOT is in french and it's pretty low on the hits.
 
It's not outrageous, where someone is choosing a residency over a tour, to imagine a lot of people travelling in to see that, and that you might bare that in mind. Now, as the artist I think you should perform what you want to perform and people that really like you will enjoy that because it's you - but I also get that there may be some disappointment about what is ultimately selected.

I get that, but going to France to see a singer who is the biggest French language artist of all time and then griping that there was not enough English is hysterical.
 
I don't think they were gripping as much as stating a fact - I didn't go - I like her as a person but I have zero interest in her music - I'm just relaying what I was told.

@Sheena I understand there were still some tickets but she expressly didn't want you to have one. Again, don't shoot the messenger here.

If you don’t feel French by association after seeing Celine do a DOUBLE FISTPUMP at the key change of Tout l’Or Des Hommes then … je ne sais pas non plus.

I mean he didn't as far as I know, he's v v down with all the other gay things, including have a ridiculously handsome husband from overseas. It's just Celin that let him down really, didn't she.
 
She looked like an owl and she sounded worse, the acting bits were like the worst kind of youth theatre production. Everyone clapped and whooped like they had no critical faculties what-so-ever, which was indeed the case.

and the Sky of Honey is quite long enough without adding a whole new song and giving it to your son to sing. He's not exactly been bothering us with his talents since.
