Charli xcx - brat and it's completely different but also still brat

FFS.

"Here's a double CD of EVERYTHING".

*less than 48 hours later*

"Aaaahhhhhh! Here's moooooore!"

Fuck's sake.

well we knew every song would get a remix in the end. presumably there'll be a Hello Goodbye remix on Friday too?

I’m choosing to believe this about poor old KATY PERRY.

Oh baby, you mad watchin' me win
Do it again 'cause I'm Kesha, bitch
Makin' me sick, nominated
All the motherfuckers better be prayin'
Singin' my song, singin' along
TikTok bitch 'til the kingdom come
Give 'em a hit, they can eat shit
Choke on my name when you suck on my dick

Kesha feels a bit disconnected, and they didn't remix the instrumental at all. A letdown, sadly.

It could have been Katy, hun! But if there's one thing we all learned from 2024, it's that nobody wanted to hear a KP song despite her trying three times!

Spring Breakers remix is fucking awful but so is the original.

I still think this is wild. I think the only songs where I would reach for the remix instead of the original are Guess and Everything Is Romantic, which is genuinely a better song now that Polachek has drenched it in her angelic tones. Some really great stuff but absolutely as a "Part 2" or as a bonus track on an imaginary 12".

I mean, some of them are close, but I just enjoy the production so much more on most of the remixes. B2B is probably the biggest leap. I wasn't massively fussed about the original but the remix is amazing!

B2B isn't a favourite of mine either and , yes, there is more going on in the remix but I;m on the fence as to whether or not that suits it.

Ultimately, there's plenty of brat for everyone and this is A Good Thing.

Girl So Confusing was an OK song transformed into a brilliant one. it's the best remix for me.

I think a lot of the remixes are pretty good but don't trouble the originals except in cases like I think about it all the time and I might say something stupid. romantic is great too (but not better than the original), Caroline never fails. happy for anyone who prefers the remix album and it's definitely hot to have OPTIONS!

Yeah this remix feels lazy BUT my takeaways are: I'm thrilled for Kesha to have a song out there with a current/hot artist, loving the nod to early 2009's Ke$ha by bringing the vocoder back :disco: and I guess I'm happy for the fans that wanted the same BRAT tracks but with different lyrics.

My Blood Records "..three more songs.." arrived. It's a great pressing but did I "need" it? No. I didn't. I feel the way I consume my music has hit a wee turning point thanks to a couple of dodgy pieces of vinyl that were very much luxury items. Anyway, she's #1 and, given that the difference between her and Paul Heaton was the exact number of the Blood Records edition, I guess it did its job.
