She just did a livestream (well, a Zoom call with 1000 fans - god help us) announcing:

-she's making a new album
-it's called How I'm Feeling Now
-she'll be doing all visuals etc herself
-she's working with AG Cook on production again
-she'll be sharing demos etc via dropbox (my god)
-in real-time and letting fans have input (jesus christ)
...it's out May 15th

I'm excited! I was expecting an EP of 'lost' tracks, but this could potentially be quite special.
 
Well this sounds like a potential disaster :disco:

I do love that whatever she does, fans just demand an official release of XCX World. I mean just chuck it on streaming and press a few thousand vinyl. It’s going to happen at some point ANYWAY.
 
That sounds like a GLORIOUS MESS.

I don't normally follow Charli but I can't wait.
 
I'd have thought she'd want a bit of distance from her FANZZZ going by the hoopla at her last tour
 
I'm oddly unenthused by this. I certainly have no intention of following "the making of". Might have to unfollow her Insta until the album is out.

Gayz started to turn up to her meet & greets with more ridiculous and inappropriate things for her to sign. It went from a bottle of poppers, to an urn of someones mother's ashes to a douche.

Anyway yes, totally here for this. She has absolutely nothing to lose if it goes to shit and can palm it off as a lockdown experiment but everything to gain if she manages to get a hit or even just create some great music. First single allegedly out either Friday or Monday
 
Absolutely here for the finished products, no question. I hope she's not just going to put tracks "out" as soon as they're finished - a few singles and then hit us with the album, please.
 
i think she is being quite savvy with this choice, as always. as long as there is strong editing, it should be up to standard.
 
she's about to play (some of) a new track Forever on her IG live
 
she claims the album that will follow this one later this year (?!), which is already in progress, is her "Janet album" - I'm not sure if that means there'll be seven interludes about pussy or just that it'll be jancelled due to an unforeseen outbreak of Vanessa Feltz.

what was the consensus (lol) on the last album? apart from 1999 I thought most sounded really messy. I hope for more STRINGENCY
 
I loved "Charli" - it has everything; dark electro, ecstatic pop, weird experimental stuff and a genuine heartbreaker ("Official"). It makes most sense on the vinyl - side 4 has all the really out-there stuff.

I love 1999/Gone and Cross You Out/Warm were decent too but the rest wasn't up to scratch. She can do a lot better. I found many of the hooks and melodies surprisingly weak
 
I like that. Will need a couple more plays before it's fully engrained.
 
If "I will always love you, I love you forever" is the best chorus she can come up with, she should buy a PS4 until lockdown is over.

Maybe not but come on.

Musically it's fine but this does nothing to allay my concerns about this project - she spent two or three weeks doing instagram chats with her chums, long-distance workouts and showing us her cooking skillz and now she's bored so she's making an album.

Hopefully she'll be invigorated by the positive response to this and the game will be upped a bit.

I properly broke down after the second play of this. I'm not sure it was so much the song itself, but listening to it really took me back to the night I saw her live last year. It was the first gig I'd been to with my boyfriend, and there were also great friends there including our Octy and a cameo from monsta and it was such a fun night... I think it just threw up such a visceral memory and forced me to compare that experience to what things are like at the moment, and I couldn't deal with it :(

Awww babe <3 I don’t even know you but SENDING LOVE + THIS IS VERY RELATABLE

I think it’s very noble of Charli to give us something to discuss to death during this period :disco: I think Forever is FAB :disco: and very mature. It sort of builds on the minimal sadness of much of the Charli album (which I mainly LOVED btw :disco: )

Looking forward to this hot mess/possibly genius album now :disco:

first impressions of the song are good. Caroline's artwork is a delight

 
She played four clips on her live, they all sounded like instant classics. This album will be something. Claws/Clementine, Enemy, Seven Years and Detonate, one of the first two might be coming next

It all sounded very frothy shiny PC Music / even a bit N1A ish :disco:
 
I'm trying to avoid all the working bits, demos etc. I wanna go straight to the finished product.

"Before quarantine I was making a different album. The production needed work but the songs were done. I had this whole visual vibe for the album that I hadn’t really started creating yet. Then when quarantine happened I just knew that the whole visual world was not going to be created during this time. I'd really wanted to transform myself, not into a different person, but I guess the album was more concepty and characterish than anything I’d ever done before. Dressing up! Referencing a time! And that’s not something I could recreate in my home. But, after that album I’d wanted to do another album in December, which I’d already spoken about with AG and Sophie, and the idea there was: "Let’s just do it in four weeks! We’ll go somewhere, it’ll just be the three of us, we’ll just make it." So when quarantine came around I knew I couldn’t do the album with the big videos and me in crazy blonde hair and wigs, so I thought: "Let’s do the other album now." Because it would essentially have been me and AG and some other people isolating ourselves anyway. The thing with Gaga is that she’s obviously an artist who’s extremely 360 in the way she presents her work. Even though her last video was shot on an iPhone, her videos are BUDGET. Maybe she had some really incredible visions she wanted to execute and she just wasn’t able to do the music justice. So I get it."

I won’t lie — we’re going for a ten-track album and I’ve done six, so I’m not that stressed. I checked the timer today and I was like: Oh, there’s thirty days left. No problem!"

The "concept/character" album (which she also called her "janet album") sounds like it'll be a total treat!
 
Given that there's no sign of SOPHIE as yet, maybe this revised schedule doesn't allow for her involvement :(
