Charlie Kirk DEAD (by witch's curse)

Can’t help but thinking that this is what happens when you pursue the politics of hate every time I see a social media RIP post.

🤷‍♀️

Anyway, I’ll be obsese about the shooter all day. Expert long shot, anti surveillance movement, dressed in all black. One shot one kill shit. They deffos have had proper marksman training. This isnt backyard shit.

I'm more obsessed with the very different reactions of people watching. Some ducking, some straight to the window, and some seemingly not giving a shit at all

Well, if you're going to kill your friend to get people to stop talking about all the evidence that you're a massive paedo, it's worth spending a few quid extra to get it done properly.

Being so desensitised to guns that when you hear a high calibre round ring out you run to see where its come from.

Aye, right into the carotid artery. Impressive. No question it's a professional.

You don’t have to agree with Charlie’s views to know political murder is wrong. What’s wild is seeing people on the “left” posting stuff that excuses it, calling it karma, or tossing out a half-hearted “murder is bad” line just to cover themselves, followed by a million “buts”. The left used to stand for free speech and against violence. It's a total disgrace.

Anyone who either says nothing about Gaza or openly backs the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza but calls this "political violence" is a witless buffoon of use to neither man nor beast, except potentially as a decent compost.

As you were LGx

Now where are those Etsy Witches?

I don't think he lived a good life publicly, he encouraged others to act with spite and enrage people, but the nihilistic reaction to his violent murder on stage in front of his family is not something I agree with. Just because he didn't believe in empathy doesn't mean we have to sink to that level.

I absolutely hate what social media has done to political discourse and I'm personally embarrassed by some of the things I've said on here before. Everyone needs to tone things down, stop trying to rage bait each other and stand against violence.

Counterpoint: "If I can shoot rabbits, then I can shoot fascists" - Tom Thomas.

He publicly called George Floyd a scumbag and said gun deaths were a worthwhile price for keeping the second amendment. Literally in his own words he's given his blessing to celebrate his death.

Tone policing is a tool of the right, used to create an impression of civility while they use systemic violence to kill.

He lived by rage bait, he died by a single gunshot that was delivered far too well to be a random person and is clearly someone with training and experience. Oh.

How does that justify anything? He encouraged everyone to prove him wrong, to debate with him.
No he didn't. He never 'debated' a thing. All he did was throw out logistically flawed or irrelevant 'gotchas' to try and frustrate people and then claim to have 'won'. To enter into discussion with absolutely no interest in listening is bad faith and he conducted every debate' in bad faith seeking solely to build his own personal brand and his own wealth.

Aside from an increased potential for vigilantism, I don't think it moves the trajectory one little bit. The right are too gun happy for any curbs. Melissa Hortman's murder was passed over as quickly as the media could get away with which was very quickly indeed and she was an elected representative. The wailing and gnashing of teeth over Kirk will be noisy and exaggerated but if it's used as an excuse, it will only be as an excuse. Right now, I remain unconvinced he hasn't been sacrificed as a pawn to shift the narrative.

I believe Trump will lockdown college campuses and permit carrying guns on them. There will probably be even more bloodshed.

I personally whooped when I saw the news this morning. Obviously everything that will come of it will be terrible, but if it hadn't been this it'd have been something else. You can see it blatantly in the way leading figures on the US right have reacted to this instantly.

The right in America at this point are really just gleefully terrible people who wilfully behave in the way they incorrectly accuse the left of being like all the time, and act with ten thousand times more force and brazeness in things that they screech are an ungodly injustice if the left do even a flick in the same vein. It's a poison in their being they're determined to act on to the extent of pushing it right up to a civil war at the first possible provocation, and the sooner the left realises that and tools up to either forestall it or defend itself if need be, the better. They aren't going to act with mercy.

I don't think this is a fair reaction to Mugatu's pose.

Calling for collective stance against violence and highlighting how much social media and the internet have messed things up is totally valid.

Voodoo's point meanwhile is totally undermined by so much of what they've said elsewhere (though I also think they're rage baiting and should be ignored for the most part).

I feel confident that I can be utterly opposed to Kirk and those like him, including how Trump and co. are weaponising his death, but also a pacifist and against the celebration of murder.

My gut is that any conversation like this leads to a shouting match however so I may close this thread for a while.

Whatever the fact, I'm scared by how this is already being spun. It feels more than ever that we're on the precipice of things going really bad (well, worse). The fact that Israel attacking Qatar and Poland shooting down a Russian drone seem like distant news items is disturbing.

It's fanciful, pie in the sky. You're right insofar as a collective renunciation of violence would be a vastly better world that the one we have now. But in a world where the right make celebrities and figureheads of their murderers - such as Kyle Rittenhouse - and the US has such an obsession with their constitutional right to firearms, all it does is make the left into sitting ducks. The levels of state-sponsored, systemic violence right now are insane. How does the pull back from that start?

Why is he getting a minute’s silence? He wasn’t a politician. He wasn’t a statesmen or an official. He wasn’t elected to anything. The government just openly admitting that they supported a right wing hack that helped them lie their way to office.

I don’t condone the shooting either. But this blurred line between official government and media theatrics is another reminder of one of the biggest issues with Trump’s presidency.
