I haven't listened to this in about 10 years. Many of the tracks are completely nondescript and it's a bit samey (albeit some consistency).

But 2 of the tracks ("Believe" and "Strong Enough") are forces of nature.

Not as good as Living Proof, but a magnificent pop album all the same.

I could AIRBRUSH it into a solid 10, but Takin' and a few lesser gems are the tell-tale crows feet on an otherwise flawless document.
 
God, I've just listened to Strong Enough as a precursor to investigating Living Proof, and it's fucking corking.

On being USED I could WRITE the BOOK :disco:

I also admire her plastic surgery, it's the kind where you don't really try to look younger, but just try to defy the actual concept of AGE.

I love the sound at the beginning of Love Is The Groove which is autotuned so deep it sounds like the distressed bellowing of an Elk in labour.

I love "Strong Enough". It's regularly my shower song of choice.

There is THAT, to be fair. It's VERY MUCH of its TIME for many of us, I suppose...

...but BY GOD I love it. It still provokes a GENUINE RUSH to my loins when I hear it.

I'd say its her 2nd best album (behind Living Proof obviously), lots of great moments and pretty consistent:

I'm much more a fan of her 70s work, especially Stars, the American HITS, and lesser known songs like I'd Rather Believe In You, but the dance albums are still far superior the the filler on her Geffen stuff (apart from I Paralyze, which is another amazing album). It's A Man's World is also a masterpiece. She's a different artist in every decade.
 
Living Proof SO isn't better than this!

THE POWER is a 13/10 moment for me nowadays.

"Strong Enough" I have a lovehate relationship with (mostly love to be honest) so I can see the 5/10 rationale but yes, I'd give it a 9 AT LEAST.

What a GREAT CD.

It was playing in the studio the other day when Cher was doing the photography for Closer to the Truth and it made her really NERVOUS.

Well, it's no Bag It Up.

I just can't get into it, as good as the 53 year old mattress line about being used is, the rest of it is just an I Will Survive re-write. I do love how cheerful she sounds bellowing "but you don't wanna hear about it" as if she couldn't keep a straight face whilst singing it (but we all know can't NOT keep a straight face, but never mind).
