Christmas decorations

I am hearing of more and more people putting up their Christmas decorations already. It is still too early for me, but I am considering putting them up at the start of December this year to bring a little bit of CHEER to what has felt a bit like a prison at the beginning of the year. Has anyone got their tree up? When are you putting your decorations up?
 
I'll probably put mine up the 12th of December, two Saturdays before Christmas as ever.

Anyone who puts their decorations up now and then fails to last the 12 days of Christmas is on my kill list.

People take them down BEFORE Christmas? :o
 
I am usually AFTER the 12 days before thing. Usually when I can be bothered, not that I am bah humbug at all as I LOVE Christmas but am not really a fan of clutter. After the terrible year it has been I think it sounds like a good idea to start the run up to Christmas early.
 
I get people taking them down before New Year - it makes sense that this would come with the general tidying up.

I haven't put anything up for a few years now. Can't be arsed.

I always wait until 12 days after Christmas to take them down, although IF I do put them up early I think they may well come down early too.
 
I probably won't bother, I didn't get round to buying decorations for my flat last year, and I plan on moving out sometime in the next year so it doesn't make much sense for me to bother.

At most I'll put a Santa hat on Pikachu.

Can you not bring your decorations WITH YOU to your new home? I am quite sentimental about some of mine. I even still have some of the TAT that the kids made when they were young, but none of that crap gets put on the main tree.
 
I’ve never put up Christmas decorations but then it seems slightly pointless if you don’t spend actual Christmas in your flat. Of course that may not be the case this year.

I could, but they might not suit my new place, so I might as well wait. I'm thoroughly unbothered about Christmas normally, but especially this year I couldn't give a shit.
 
We'll put ours up first week in December I think, it's mainly for the kids really!
 
Christmas is certainly going to be DIFFERENT this year as I usually have a house full. It is just going to be 3 of us this year, so rather than get depressed and have a rubbish time I am going to go ALL IN and embrace it.

But not until 5th December. Not hating anyone decorating at home early, it's been a cunt of a year. I mean they'd be in the shops if they were open.
 
I'll wait until a couple of weeks into December - I don't like keeping them up TOO long, I always try and get them down well before NYE too.

I try to get them down before NYE but Mr Ag won't have it.
 
I’m all for prolonged Christmas merriment but there really seems to be an air of people pinning their hopes on Christmas and it being the thing to keep them sane, looking forward to and occupied.

The January blues, post Christmas crash is going to be SEVERE
 
A friend of mines next door neighbour keeps them up all year round. :zombie:
 
I’ve got some disgustingly gaudy TRINKETS all ready for our tree coming the first week in December :disco:

The amount of lazy people back in YE OLDE DERBYSHIRE that keep their Christmas lights up all year round (but never switch them on obviously) is RIDICULOUS.
 
If people do put decorations up now are they not TOTALLY OVER IT by the time the big day eventually comes around?
 
I always felt sorry for those working in retail having to hear Christmas music from the beginning of November.
 
I just think SURELY it’s FUCKING TORTURE for people who have kids and they’re putting them up mid-November. The wait used to be absolutely agonising for Christmas when you were a child.

The grief they’ll be getting is DESERVED x
 
Our house was AWFUL when we were growing up. Not a part of the ceiling wasn’t decorated with FOIL CRAP.
 
We are painting our own decorations this year, which is sickeningly middle class.
 
No tree until december though. To be honest I'm not feeling remotely festive yet.
 
Mandy has very firmly said no to decorations before 1st December. Which is fine, because I'm busy cluttering the flat with plants instead.
 
Not until the first weekend in December.

I’m too busy WRAPPING PRESENTS at the moment to think about putting decorations up.
 
We'll get the tree and start decorating on November 27, which is when the Late Late Toy Show is on telly in Ireland (I don't watch it though as it's shit and it's probably something you had to grow up with to appreciate it). I'm kind of getting into the Christmas spirit after watching Dash & Lily on Netflix, so I actually can't wait to have the decorations out although we still have our Halloween decorations up - it's all Nightmare Before Christmas-related, so it still feels ok.
 
I need to buy some more tat. I don't have space for a tree so I'll probably just drape fairy lights and tinsel everywhere.
