I can't see Spotify going MAD for Cilla. I have no interest in hearing this shit in the charts.
 
Needless to say I'm going to be streaming the arse off the Dusty and Dionne versions.

Me neither. But I would be slightly amused to see her above One Direction and their record breaking new release, less than a week after it was released.

Cilla and Dale Winton were rumoured to do a lot of coke together.

She was really nasty. So mean was Cilla that her nastiness became an attribute.
 
The Daily Mail have written an article based on the cabin crew website, but made no reference to the behaviour of dear dead Cilla. I didn't think you could libel the dead.

Almost had an "oh Julie Andrews, not Cilla Black's funeral" moment until I seen it was Lorraine Chase. Vorderman's surgery certainly doesn't equal beauty.

When Zsa Zsa finally carks it (she'll probably outlive Princess Charlotte though) I fully expect Moopy to wear a black armband as a sign of mourning.
 
Paul O'Grady's speech at the funeral is really good. She may have been foul to the little people, but he does make her sound like a good laugh.

Following her sad passing earlier this month, Cilla Black’s The Very Best Of has topped this week’s Official Albums Chart.

The Very Best Of first re-entered the Top 40 two weeks ago as fans began to pay tribute to showbiz legend who passed away on August 1; and following the star’s funeral yesterday, has climbed a further seven places this week to land the top spot. The accolade marks both a new peak for The Very Best Of, as well as Cilla’s first ever Official Albums Chart Number 1.

“This Number 1 is a reflection of the special place Cilla Black occupied in the hearts of the British public and a fitting tribute to an icon who shaped popular music and entertainment," Dan Chalmers, President, Rhino, East West & ADA, UK told OfficialCharts.com, "Cilla had an extraordinary and unforgettable voice and her timeless music will inspire fans and musicians for generations to come.”

The Very Best Of was first released in 1983, before being expanded and re-released in 2013 to include fan favourites and dance remixes of Cilla classics.

The compilation includes Official Singles Chart Number 1s Anyone Who Had A Heart (the biggest selling single of the ‘60s by a female artist) and You’re My World, as well as Top 10 hits You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’, Step Inside Love and Love’s Just A Broken Heart and dance remixes of Imagine and Faded Images.

Cilla boasts an impressive Official Chart history, with a total of six Top 40 albums, and 11 Top 10 singles - the second highest number for any British Female, only trailing Shirley Bassey and Petula Clark, who both have 12.

You can't deny it's fairly impressive topping the chart now (albeit helped by low sales, a TV special and OH YEAH, HER DEATH, but is 6 top 40 albums over a career that long really impressive?

I think six top 40 albums are quite impressive as she's a UK female, and her singing career was only really prominent in the 60's and 70's as around the 80's the TV took over..

I am surprised to see the album #1 this week, I didn't think it could rise that much just because of the funeral - what are sales?
 
Pop singers in the sixties were very rarely album sellers, were they? I know the likes of Sandie Shaw, Lulu and Marianne Faithfull all had very limited success on the album charts even at their commercial peaks.

Yes, but those six top forty albums include 3 compilations from the 80s onwards. She only had three other top forty albums, all in the 60s, according to wikipedia at least.

It climbed because of the TV special primarily I'd have thought. It was #2 in the midweeks (before the funeral) behind an act who would skew heavily to a fanbase.

Oh I know that and understand it. I just think it's not particularly impressive.
