I'm just not sure how well suited Claudia is to the chat show format. Part of her shtick is the imposter vibes she sometimes gives off and that really isn't a quality that you need in a host of this kind.
 
I'd argue that means more to the type of chat show she's been given (or what the audience expects) rather than her not being able to present one.
 
I didn't see it but didn't she do great standing in for Graham recently? I'm sure the format just needs work
 
I enjoyed this though I think Claudia felt more incidental to proceedings than a host probably should?

I liked the set and I liked the audience being part of the show - but they really need to have them be more interesting, Channel 4 Graham Norton style.

Trudie was iconic, but was there not a better way to tee her up than “here is the lady who chose this sofa”, which was weird. As was bringing out the dog to pet for a bit.

No musical guests is a shame. Sure I often fast forward that bit of Norton, but it’s nice to have the option and as our Halli says we’re starved of music slots on UK telly now.
 
I think it's going more interestingly this week, Claudia's more involved, more funny. :grin:
 
I am finding this lot borderline unwatchable. I think its just the guests annoying me.
 
Oh just have Kudie and Trudie/Judie/whatever it was on the couch and no one else and pretend there's not even an audience.

Not watching this week as I'm very much "who is the sole guest?" when it comes to my late night talk show engagement, but next week I'll probably watch live.
 
Yeah just like it flowed much better, and Claudia was quick with some witty responses to the guests. So she's finding her flow. Very distracted by Jimmy Carr's face though.
 
The best line-up so far and the best episode yet. Kudrow's an international treasure. Delightfully normal for someone that famous. Carr's jokes were basic but we enjoyed the updated face.

They should have had Linda sat in the audience, or at least let her go and sit in it after her awkward cameo.

They could have done more with that. Ditto all the Phoebes in the audience, which felt like it could have been a moment but it was so pissed away. To think some poor researcher spent all week wrangling Phoebes for such LITTLE RETURN
 
I feel like they were expecting Lisa Kudrow to EMBRACE and HUG it out with Linda, but oh no, more a bemused smile and clap from AFAR.

I’ve only seen this clip on social media and my immediate thought was ‘no hug?’ - it was so awkward; Kudrow obviously thinking why would I greet this absolute non-celebrity 😂


I think what will help Winkleman though on this note is the social media clips, which is what has turned Norton’s show into the absolute juggernaut it is now.
 
I watched the clip of Jamie Dornan talking about SNL and thought she wasn't as gifted as Graham would be at making quick wit of his responses. it was a touch DRY. I'm sure she'll improve

It's still a bit cringe. Rita is absolutely lovely of course (although kind of interesting that she'd rap and not mention her son who has had numerous embarrassing hip hop endeavours). James McAvoy's point about the Scottish accent was just awkward - I agree in that there are plenty of accents up here that just never get heard even on Scottish media, but it sounded like he just didn't win a few auditions.
 
Just started now. Claudia seems more present and in control, but it's a shocking line up
 
The bit where Claudia wants Rita (not James) to say who her husband is was a bit of a strange one, but I'd say it was fine if a bit painful small talky in points and Claudia's stories just weren't true.
 
If I thought last week's line-up was bad, this week's is a whole other kettle of FUCKING HELL. But! It turned out they were all entertaining and earned their place on the sofa, so I guess it's ok? it just looked sub-Jonathan Ross on paper

Even though Norton's show has more stardust, I find Claudia's a nice appealing Saturday morning watch. The gentler look and lighting makes it a comforting experience.
 
They're very clearly struggling to book stars for this. I assume LINDA will be promoted to the couch by the end of the series.
 
I couldn't tell if Anna Faris was doing a BIT or if she just had a deep well of sadness within her.
 
Anna really appeared to be off, and the story about when she took her mum to see Scary Movie and told her to leave before the scene where she was blasted with cum just made me cringe.

I was :agog:when the model revealed she was 45, she looked like she was in her early 20s!

I think the show is more suited to Sunday nights though.
 
Yeah I can see this as good for sunday nights too!

I quite enjoyed last nights, again Claudia was quicker with her comebacks and general humour, and Anna Faris is bloody mental but I found her entertaining.
