Coldplay - 'Higher Power'

colour me curious about it
Has Max worked with anybody else for the last 3 years other than Ariana Grande or The Weeknd?? Maybe he could come up with SOMETHING as good as Save Your Tears :disco:

I mean I'm grateful for everyone going disco and synth, but not this.

honestly, it does sound like Coldplay desperately trying to go for a poppier sound, attempting to stay relevant while enlisting one of the best producers in pop music yet failing so miserably at it :(

Didn't they do basically the same thing a few years ago when they collaborated with the Chainsmokers? Seems a bit desperate to me (I mean it'll probably still be a huge hit but still)...

Here's a snippet then.

Worst.

I can’t believe there’s people out there that would buy tickets to that virtual Glastonbury thing. I mean, WHY WOULD YOU? Just find a Coldplay concert on YouTube!

Not to mention it’s the same day as GAY CHRISTMAS, which is FREE!

The worst honestly.

So this dropped. Reminds me of Prefab Sprout massacred by Ed Sheeran.

Yeah a vague first listen of a bit didn’t do anything for me, and I quite like some of their singles

Coldplay just single handedly destroyed synthpop

the next ASFM is going to be tricky

Synthpop is amazing. Know your history.

It's the wishy washy Spotify shite that I can't stand.
I like synthpop. It’s just the sheer volume of it that made me lose interest.

Like with most genres, it's easy to spot the genuinely fun stuff and the cash-grabbing cynical whipped-up-in-five-minutes-using-discarded-production-tracks songs...

house music is awash with chart friendly nonsense but it doesn't stop me loving the good stuff.

so crap

I listened to Princess of China afterwards and cleaned myself in a cloud of blissful emo ecstasy

I didn't realize they had an album after A Head Full of Dreams. I liked the title track and "Birds" on that one, otherwise it's been slim pickings since "Magic".
