My dad is in the “this will all blow over in a month when the virus just naturally dies out” camp because he spoke to one doctor (an orthopaedic surgeon) who thought so.

He’s also stuck in April and thinks Sweden have been handling this really well...
 
Our FAMILY HOLIDAY to GREECE has yet to be cancelled and apparently it’s still going ahead AS NORMAL and it’ll all be FINE :eyes:
 
I can go to France in three weeks time for a free week away, only paying for the £50 return flight but I can’t face the quarantine. I was hoping I might just get away with it.
 
Oh I’ve had quite a horrible 24 hours. My grans been in a care home and although there was an outbreak, where about a third of the patients died, she seemed to be doing ok. But I got a call last night from my mum saying that they suspect she now has it, can no longer swallow, or talk. she got tested this morning, as there was a shortage of tests. But I just feel so horrid for her because she hasn’t been able to see her mum since lockdown and she used to go see her every day. :(
 
So they aren’t moving her to hospital yet. I think there was talk of that but my mum seemed glad she was staying put in the home. The care home is actually pretty good, the staff are nice, and my Gran seemed to be pretty settled there - she had put on weight etc before all of this. It’s just pretty sad that this has wiped so many people in care homes out.
 
Sorry to hear that @SDF. I went through the same thing with my grandmother at her care home so know how it feels. It’s absolutely horrible.

Fingers crossed she recovers.

I think the quarantine thing will be gone very soon. I don't believe for a second any of it is being enforced and given you can just say you were DOWN THE SHOPS if they come round it makes it all a total nonsense.

I'm toying with clearing off to Berlin or Provence for the summer.

Especially as I have someone who can shop for me. But yes, in theory, I take your point...

We're a pack of idiots who voted for the incompetent out of a desperation to complete an action fuelled by racism and xenophobia. Can't see us getting much sympathy from other countries in our desire to go frolicking in lands full of people we appear to hate, making a nuisance of ourselves as usual AND spreading the 'vid about.
 
They've U-turned on the tracing app then and are switching to the Apple/Google one like everyone else, but not until autumn :rolleyes: lolz
 
This government makes more u-turns than a dodgy plumber, but I suppose it's better than them continuing straight with all their bone-headed decisions. I just don't get why they're never facing the right way in the first place - "nah we'll ignore the tech giants and try to do our own thing", "nah we'll just let children go hungry over summer", "nah let's charge our NHS heroes fees for some reason" etc

Apple haters are going to love the reason they gave up though. Personally I rather like their "privacy or death" approach to things. The alternative is the high risk after all this is over, of the govt ending up hyping up the common cold as a reason to track everyone everywhere at all times.

Fingers crossed that by Autumn it'll be a wasted effort as we'll have stomped this thing into the ground! (Yeah I know, but we can dream)

Most Tory decisions appear to be fuelled by the motivation to line their own pockets. They shun actual experts for their mates, and then it all goes tits up because they put some bint who can't use a printer in charge of complicated tech.

If something can't be solved by handing it off to some toff they went to school with, it won't get done unless they're absolutely forced to.

The R number is supposedly just so high because of the workers in that abattoir and their families, but there are SO many, there's no way in hell that can be contained!
 
Thanks. My Grans covid test actually came back negative to the shock of everyone on Friday evening.

Good news that she doesn’t have it but basically she still isn’t eating so things aren’t looking hopefully :(
