I thought things were calming down in Spain. I’m not really sure what the curfew would achieve? Is spain incredibly busy within those hours? :confused:
 
Local regions in Spain can also go further than the nighttime curfew. That’s just the bare minimum.
 
It doesn’t sound quite as bad as here though. We have NO NIGHTLIFE OR RESTAURANTS.
 
No mixing with other households inside at all. They still seem to be allowed a group of 6.
 
I have not had a cold for well over a year. I am expecting after 2 days back in an office I'm going down with covid.
 
Some are speculating about another full lockdown in France. I pray that they just extend the curfew hours - the thought of being trapped inside again for two+ months is just... not the one.

The Spanish lockdown cannot be enforced at national level for more than 2 weeks, the government is hoping that each regional government will comply but there are some like the Valencian Community that had already announced a state of emergency for the region only until December.

So it looks like it's a case of better safe than sorry with a view to potentially lifting it when (or if :confused:) things recover.

It's looking pretty likely Louf... I just hope it doesn't come this week, I'm going to Nantes next weekend and I REALLY need one last escape before the inevitable :(

I think the UK deaths rising over a weekend is particularly troubling. The weekend always dips. If they are still counting in the same format, we're headed for a big peak on Tuesday.
 
Zoe Symptom Tracker is saying 41587 today, up by about 2.5k. Something seems very much amiss with the confirmed cases, if we were catching the usual proportion it'd be at about 30k. Probably more fudging in "Excel"
 
We’ve been back in modified stage 2 for two weeks now and the cases are still on the rise. Don’t know what they’ll do next.
 
you see what is happening around Europe with curfews and proper lockdowns, yet some Danes and parties of the opposition have the gall to MOAN that freedom was already too limited and democracy is defunct because the government has introduced masks in supermarkets and no more than 10 people gathering :manson: we have it so easy

This feels like if Katy Perry suddenly released a new album and got the highest number of daily streams for two months, and you're like, oh ffs this bish again

I am just going to resign myself to a new lockdown over the next few days so that at least I'm ready for it if it happens
 
How did Scotland change the way in which they measure newly tested and positive cases? I know she said it was changing this week but I never caught why. Went from 20% of newly tested were positive last week to 7% today. :eyes:

People who had a test before at any time before, would not be counted as newly tested. As testing has ramped up, and especially as more and more people were routinely tested, such as those in care homes, they weren't being counted towards the positivity rate under the old measurement. So they have changed to the much simpler % of all tests done that day to try and better reflect the actual positivity rate.

That definitely does sound like a much better way. I was just praying it wasn’t another case of those who died of coronavirus after 28 days not being counted scenario.
 
Oh so soon it'll be possible to get a test at Boots if you don't apply to the NHS one...

Boots have also said you shouldn't get a test with them if you actually have symptoms, and if you've been in contact with someone who is infected you shouldn't be venturing out to the shops anyway.... so who are they marketing this to?

Yup, precisely this. I would definitely consider this if it means being able to go home for Christmas without fear of passing on the virus!

Paid tests have always been available via Lloyd’s Pharmacy but the turnover is longer.
 
I'm a little worried about the regulation of tests like these. Are the tests done within boots by trained staff or is it self administered? And will it just lead to false confidence that causes more infections than it prevents?
 
Oh GOD are we going to end up in Tier 3 here? I thought Perth and Kinross area had its own health board, but things are on the rise in DUNDEE and I think we actually come under Tayside. :evil:
 
£120? Sure, Jan. People will be ringing 111 and claiming they have a fever instead and they'll get one for free when they need one.
 
There’s little doubt we’ll all soon be locked down again anyway. All this tier/different shades of red shit is meaningless really.
