The one exercise a day thing - how the fuck is that going to be policed? We have seen that the UK public cannot follow rules. This isn’t going to work.

I don't know what else they can do at the moment. The Scottish Chief Medical Officer has said people need to be able to get out to exercise as the mental health implications of having us all locked up 24/7 could be dire.
 
And the idea being that solo exercise is extremely low risk anyway, and the bulk of people wouldn't do more than one run or jog a day anyway perhaps.

I think the idea is that they'll be checking on groups of walkers/runners/cyclists, who in have large part have persisted to go for it in the past week.
 
I'll be out at least twice in a day. Once for exercise and once to walk the dog. That's pretty unenforceable.
 
I absolutely will need to get exercise.

They can’t police the one time a day thing, but just saying it will stop a fair few people.
 
There were SO many people running along the beach tonight. Mostly people solo, but was more than I’ve ever seen- even in the weeks leading up the Great South Run, when it’s packed.

Same. Working from home will be slightly difficult but not impossible.

Our temps issued a statement out to management today saying they demanded to be let to work from home or they will walk out, but also demanding full pay and for the contract with the agency to be discarded. Our Director had a video conference today and indicated that any temp who doesn’t have the right spec on their personal computer to work at home will probably just be let go.

I’m not even sure how legal that is as we even have temps on maternity leave (without the pay but their position is just being held open for them to return), not to mention we have a pending recruitment campaign for permanent positions and some of them are up for interviews when this is all over.
 
I went for a walk today. Three women blocked the pavement walking in a row. I stopped and they tutted when I obliged them to move. People are stupid fucking cunts.
 
I think the exercise thing is to help and try preserve everyone’s mental health

but they will increase the restrictions if people don’t listen
 
A friend of mum's texted yesterday asking people to come round to drink wine for mother's day.

But she offered separate sofas so it's all fine. :)

Thankfully she got a polite no.

I've been in since Saturday aside from walks. Its stopped me from losing my shit. I agree that policing it is nigh on impossible.

Y'know what, I've always hated that - people who block a pavement and walk more slowly that a stoned tortoise. Now I'm in the right about it because science.

Oh, and I've had my generic text message from my employer advising me that I'm a key worker and expected to attend work "as normal". Because of course I have.
 
You know I'm quite at ease with this now. I had my meltdown last week.

Although Mr Ag at home all day as from now...
 
Having been in lockdown for the last week, I have to say, you get used to it. My BF, who is naturally more inclined to want to go out, hasn't left the apartment in days. I find excuses to go out - making all kinds of doctor's appointments, doing small food shops, exercise, taking the bins out at the wrong time so I have to put them on the street, etc. But I spend almost all day inside now.

The UK government will progressively issue stricter rules, as they have done in France. I saw no police checks for the first few days. Today I saw 7 in my time outside. They have clarified that exercise can only take place within 1km of your stated residence, and you must timestamp your "attestation" explaining why you are going outside, to prevent you from using the same "food shopping" one all day.

All in all, I'm at peace with another 40 days of this. I figure, let's do it properly, and then go back to normal, rather than do it half-heartedly and drag this out for months.
 
France, Spain and Italy have much stronger restrictions than this. You can't go out without a permit, or something like a supermarket receipt. I understand that people need to exercise, however, I think it's just too open for abuse. Anyway, we shall see.
 
Also they really need to redefine what a 'key worker' is - for example not ALL call centre workers are essential.
