So I've sent my staff home now, and working remotely begins tomorrow. I'm going to go in the office myself in the morning to make sure everything is working ok, then from Wednesday I'm at home. I still have to have this lump removed from my foot tomorrow and I'm PRAYING it doesn't get cancelled.

I don't know what to do about me. I'm technically asthmatic, but I always felt that might have been misdiagnosed and just be a symptom of my acid reflux stuff. I therefore get a free flu jab every year, but don't always have it (I haven't this year, for example). I'm PRESUMING I don't bother with the 12 weeks isolation thing, but I don't REALLY know.

What sort of lump is it? Is it like a ganglion?

So many people I know are freelance, and are genuinely TERRIFIED now for the next few months. They are staring into an abyss of every job being cancelled, and the very real prospect of not being able to pay rent, never mind EAT. They can't even get part-time jobs to help, as all of a sudden NOWHERE is hiring/open.

WTF do we even do, if this rumbles on for months as seems likely at present the situation seems absolutely horrifying.

In a gesture of solidarity to all of the poor bar staff and owners getting screwed over by the government's cowardice, I am still going to the pub. It's a difficult job, but someone has to do it.

Nope. The Doctor suggested on the internal notes to the dermatologist it was a "suspected nodular melanoma", which is obviously nice.

Which is why I'm desperate to get it off tomorrow.

My industry relies on freelancers- I've had interpreters on the phone all day for the past week worrying about work. It's an entirely impossible situation.

Cunt of a government have just “advised” people to stay away instead of issuing a lockdown, meaning the new announcement of the closure of theatres is their own choice and now they’re not insured for all the refunds they need to give.

Cos he's in Arron Banks's pocket. Boris is perfectly happy to completely decimate an entire industry as long as his rich chums stay rich.

In other news I decided to heed @lolly's advice and nip to the barbers today before things got too crazy, only for the guy to accidentally nick my septum while trimming my beard and spend a full 5 minutes with one of his grimy fingers jammed up my nostril trying to stem the bloodflow.

So yeah, it's been nice knowing you all.

This happened to me in January - I tried to stem the bleeding throughout the haircut but it was no good so I decided to run from the barbers to the pharmacist. However I was only wearing gym shorts and my fiance's oversized coat thus creating a look that I wasn’t wearing any trousers, and the barbers had given me a bottle of beer on the way out, so with my new haircut flailing in the wind, blood streaming down my face and a bottle of beer in hand, I ran into a (terrified) pharmacist to get savlon.

Hi everyone,

Just a note to say thank you to those who have been to our shows so far on the Up Close & Personal tour. We hope you’ve enjoyed watching our lives unfold, along with singing some great Bucks Fizz/The Fizz songs.

In these worrying times, we just don’t know if there will be any more gigs in the next few weeks but none have been cancelled - yet. However, after BJ’s speech today, we wouldn’t be surprised. But we must consider the bigger picture; your health is paramount and much more important than coming to a gig. If these gigs are cancelled, they’ll be rescheduled for a later date. Don’t panic!

Just stay safe, guys. Wash your hands regularly, keep away from potential contagious situations and stop shaking hands/hugging/kissing friends and even family!

We are all affected by this. It will be incredibly hard for us all but much harder for some. If you can help neighbours or friends without endangering yourself, please do.

We love you all. We truly hope none of you will be affected by coronavirus. If you are, we wish you a speedy recovery and that we see you at a gig soon.

All our love,
Cheryl, Mike and Jay ❤️

I really hope it doesn't come to lockdown here. they've taken hefty measures as is

I can’t see evidence of any cinemas closing yet, but the cost to keep them open compared to the probably safely low audience numbers can’t be profitable.

The one near me in the new Riverside complex is staying open but reducing to 50% ticket sales so everyone has a seat between them and the next person...

how is this only hitting people? i came to terms that i probably won't earn anything in the foreseeable future a week ago.

also: onus.

All pubs are meant to be closed in Ireland. The front door is, but my old Mum told me she was in the town today and it was “business as usual” at her local. She just had to pop round the back door.

I thought this. Pubs never fucking close in the British Isles.

officially the most reported cases in one day so far and the us aren't even testing that many people still.

I had an email from Showcase yesterday saying the same.

I'd be amazed if they get anywhere near 50% capacity for a while.

When we go in to complete lockdown I am hoping we get an influx of former posters popping in. They will have nothing better to do.

South Korea did not go into complete lockdown and they have managed to do well (so far), for example. And at the start they were nearly as bad as China.

I’m really rather confused. This is probably a very stupid question, but is headed to the gym smart or completely batshit crazy?

I’ve been going. But it probably is batshit crazy- it’s going to be one of the worst places for transmission I’d have thought.

But you're all a metre apart and if you wipe you should be fine!

MAYBE.

Well yeah I’m in two minds. Anything to get the blood pumping is surely good but then the chances of transmission would naturally seem higher there.

Someone’s setting off fireworks here :wired:

Either that or it’s started.

shit is starting to get real in america. lock downs, curfews, they're never faced anything like this, have they?
and the administration is lying so flagrantly, it's like some bad movie. they're set up for utter disaster.

also: the gym is a very bad idea, devil.

The wipes in my gym aren’t alcohol based cause they don’t have a clue and tonight was busy enough that in the weights bit we weren’t a metre apart. Plus no one wipes down every weight they use.

i think i miss yoga and dance class most...

ah, the days of not seeing anyone just cause i didn't feel like it, they feel so far away.

I intend to run if I can to stay fit, but only if my foot is ok...and I don’t know how long it will take to heal.

i think we're gonna need to get over ourselves and brace for the spectacular economic collapse that is coming and the social and political upheaving that will follow.

and with that, i wish you goodnight. i can't anymore, not today anyways. i'm gonna watch the stupidest thing that's on to numb myself while i can still afford to.

If I end up not being able to work I might take the opportunity to become super fit. If I do 40 miles on the bike every day I'm not harming anyone.
