I'm starting to see people go on about easing lockdown, and people going back to work soonish (including my own job) - surely this makes no sense?

20,000 people have died in the UK, there is no cure and no real advice on how not to get infected aside from DON'T BE AROUND OTHER PEOPLE.

It feels as if most people are getting quite blasé to the whole thing, when the threat is STILL HERE AND V REAL!

Boris is back, and has just given a speech on Downing Street. Excellent timing - say what you like about him, but idiots listen to him and there seems to be an increasing number of those around in recent days.

Thickos see the numbers dropping and don't make the connection that it's BECAUSE OF LOCKDOWN

Oh people are so over it. On my run yesterday there were so many people lying about in the park, and cars on the road.

I’ve also had quite a few friends say they’ve been on social distanced walks with other friends. And even heard of a friend who went on a social distanced date with someone else.

I don’t really blame anyone for that, I just think it’s all becoming a bit too much for people and that they are now more than ever willing to take a few risks.

Yeah, lockdown is totally easing. The seafront has been really busy, there's been lots of people sitting down in parks and places from what I've seen too. NOT GOOD!

I get the whole not taking it seriously as they don’t care if THEY get it themselves. The irresponsibility comes when these people are being negligent as they don’t care if they get it and start to go about a more normal existence and pass it on to others. However unintentional that may be it is bloody SELFISH.

It’s just so moronic because presumably people think because the graph is trending downwards, it’s basically the end, whereas surely the virus is actually way more prevalent in the community than it was when lockdown started by a factor of god knows how much.

Everyone is in for a VERY nasty shock in a couple of months.

I've just been for my Government-sanctioned exercise and it looked as if everyone except cyclists and joggers are still doing social distancing. The queue outside Morrisons was very civilised, everyone was being very respectful to each other inside the store...but then, it;s a Monday - if I;d gone out yesterday, I;d probably have despaired.

I think we should try not to be quite so judgemental about how different people are coping with this. Yes, obviously flouting the guidelines is a massive dick move, but people do need to live their lives.

I've been going on a once-weekly socially distanced dog walk with two of my best friends. We're all working from home and none of us are in any contact with vulnerable people. Honestly, I need it just for my sanity - I associate Zoom calls so much with my job at the moment, and I'm the kind of person who draws social energy from being in a physical space with other people anyway, so the sense of isolation has been really tough considering my world has essentially shrunk down to the size of my one bedroom flat for the past month.

If you want to get mad at anyone, get mad at the Government for their utterly woeful response to all this.

I have to say I don't see the problem with people sitting around on their own if there's plenty of space and I wish the guidelines would change to allow that. Especially for those of us with no outside space at home.

Although people who sit on benches beside paths where there's not enough room for other people to pass at 2 metres can fuck off.

My family have just had a phone call from my grandmother's care home to say she's unwell and has a cough so is being tested. Given that she's a chain smoking 88 year old, they're hoping it could be a chest infection. The resident in the room next door to her had Covid-19 a few weeks ago and recovered so who knows. :(

In completely the OPPOSITE spirit of your post above, can I just take this chance to SHAME PEOPLE that don't seem to understand I spend my ENTIRE WEEK on Zoom calls for work, and perhaps would rather spend my Friday night getting smashed watching Eurovision reruns/Real Housewives of New York than spend MORE time talking INTO A COMPUTER SCREEN :argh:

Yes, I am aware this is a rather niche and luxurious problem to have!

I do agree with this but then again, if I’m diligently following the guidelines and going completely insane, I don’t see why everyone else shouldn’t :)

I think the issue is for some a distanced dog walk may lead on to a “distanced” barbecue at a friends where they may need to share the same facilities and if alcohol gets involved then people will then not care less about distance once inebriated. I don’t think their is a right or wrong to this but by sticking to government guidelines we in turn are then helping extinguish this horrible virus until manageable levels.

THIS. It's the "if everyone else is doing it..." mentality. I've sat and watched it happen on the common opposite me- completely empty, one set of people sit down and suddenly there's four sets of people sitting down. Last weekend I saw two separate groups having a "socially distant" kickabout and by the end they'd all joined in together and we're properly running to tackle each other etc. and having physical contact. It never stays 100% socially distanced.

It's fucking horrible, absolutely, but it's just got to be done.

The PUBLIC can now submit questions for the daily briefings. Can’t wait for Dave from STOCKPORT to ask when he can go back to the pub

hugs. let's hope nicotine is truly a corona killer.

And I wonder who vets the questions before they're asked. "Dear Boris, do you agree with those people who say you're doing a bloody good job?"

Well the testing experience was most bizarre. We were the only people there! It was all quite confusing and you have to drive around and do things in various stages, but they got some wrong and said it should’ve been done at the last stage blah blah... The actual swabbing you do yourself. It all seems quite easy to make a mistake and ruin the result. We shall see...

That Guido dickwipe is doxxing NHS workers who are members of unions, Labour Party etc and complaining that the BBC shouldn't have used them for their PPE doc last night. A) Distinct misunderstanding of cause and effect there B) An NHS worker being in a union is not news C) what a CUNT.

@Whatevar’s test results to confirm he died when Jojo releases her new album on Friday x

Also, how come they haven't rolled Bozo out for a briefing yet? Is it because they're having to talk about deaths in care homes so the net position isn't "good" enough yet?

We're allowed to go out to exercise one hour daily, starting this weekend, THANK GOD.

Very happy for you! I’m not sure I could’ve coped without my daily walk over the past month. It does wonders mentally.

Yes, I can't wait. Unfortunately I can't leave Madrid until end of June if everything goes according to plan, and you know these things never go according to plan, so I don't know if I could go to see my parents at all this summer. Yes, maybe it's not a good idea because I could put them at risk, but they are by themselves and really need some help at home. We'll see.

YAY!

We've had that since the beginning of lockdown. You have to fill a form stating when you went out. Of course you can fill two different forms and show the one you want.
Yeah, and also if they ask for your ID and you're miles away from home "exercising", it's hard to justify. I mean, you can even go to the supermarket several times a day now, it's just trying to be responsible, of course you can cheat and do whatever you want, Kala.
