Yes, I know but we are still advised not to go further than 5 miles from our homes. I have been following all guidelines up until now so will hold out until we are allowed.
 
The government has also announced that today's 5pm daily briefing will be the final regular one. They will now only hold one if there is something important to announce.

It’s a dreadful place. Full of 20 year olds in lycra hosting Uni parties. If you’re anywhere near 40 the staff will be openly hostile to you as you don’t fit their image.

Call me cynical, but this government has fucked up every possible aspect of their handling of this crisis. I don’t for one second believe they’ve magically got their shit together for this announcement.

Djokovic and his wife, Troicki and his highly pregnant wife, Dimitrov, Coric and allegedly a few people in Zadar (one of the stops of the Tour) all contracted it. People can't be trusted. People are idiots.

Well I had to go to Glasgow to see my mum to make sure she was okay, we did social distance though when I was in the park.

And I’ve also been for a few cycles to North Berwick and back, which is about 20 miles there and back. :shy:
 
So they're now planning on opening schools full time in August in Scotland. Suggesting that social distancing rules will not be in place by then?
 
For the record, I think this is absolutely the wrong approach.

The blended approach was by no means an ideal, but a far more prudent approach. But if they're announcing that now, there's going to be even less people following those rules than before.
 
We have a much lower incidence rate in Scotland and it is possible it could be all but eradicated by August (barring flare ups)

I also don’t understand why they are choosing Saturday to launch pubs reopening. Why not a week day and so there’s not the ridiculous pressure? It makes NO sense.
 
I’ve saved SO MUCH MONEY just by not going out the past few months that I’ve realised it was probably a bit of a problem :D So I may stay clear of the pubs for a little bit longer.

Also being put off sex just before lockdown really helped with that aspect. :basil:

I might tentatively visit the pub once briefly sometime in the re-opening week IF the beer garden looks safe (certainly not inside) AND it looks safe and easy to order a pint. Partly because I want to see old friends from there and find out how they've been, partly to support the pub as it's going to need it. But if it's booking only due to numbers then I'll take that as a sign they're being supported as well as possible already and not bother, as there's no way I can be arsed to BOOK to go to the pub.

But there's no way I'm going on the daily basis I was before the virus until at LEAST 2 weeks after they open. Only then will we have a rough idea of whether binning the lockdown (effectively) has caused a second wave. The attitude of "if you get it and don't die then you're fine" is unacceptable because that 1/10 - 1/5 ish risk of getting serious symptoms also looks to be leaving people with lifetime lung damage and associated shortened life expectancy.

And it must be noted, Boris's wording when justifying all this was “We think there is no risk of a second peak that overwhelms the NHS”. Emphasis mine but it was very noticeable. The way I translate that is "if there's a second wave and as many people as it takes get lung damage or die it's FINE, as long as the wave doesn't get a big enough peak to threaten the capacity of the NHS". It's a surrender, the way I see it, and a return to what he wanted all along, the herd immunity plan. Well, it never went away, it just got dragged out via lockdown to protect the NHS. It was never about saving lives, only ever about preventing the image of the NHS struggling for capacity due to herd immunity being attempted too quickly.

Reckless as hell, you'd think he'd know better having had it himself, but then that assumes he actually did (I'm going to have to play the tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist on that particular stunt)
I mean, all it'd probably take is to wait it out just a few more weeks. Get down to level 1. Then think about throwing away social distancing (let's face it, that's how people will see "1m+") and flinging all the pub doors open, if we've managed to keep the thing suppressed. Everywhere else that did what we're about to do is now seeing second waves, even the best like South Korea, maybe they will be able to put a lid on it as it's one isolated breakout, but it'd be another story if we've got more breakouts than the face of a 13 year old. Then it's like.... who's looking forward to Lockdown 2.0 for Christmas?

I just wrote to my MP about re-opening swimming pools - Swim England has started a campaign on social for it too, they've devised guidelines on what the best approach would be. Chlorine instantly kills the virus so the biggest risk apparently is communal changing spaces, which is fair enough. JUST LET US GET IN THE FUCKING WATER :(

I was going along with this bullshit and everyone blatantly flouting rules but re-opening pubs and cinemas before any mention of swimming pools? I think I'll be flying to Spain in a few week's time to go swim there instead - all flights are 25 pounds at the moment and THAT apparently is okay!
 
Pity we get so hung up on nudity otherwise you'd be able to just change outside or by the side of the pool or something.
 
We don’t seem to be hearing ANYTHING about those that are asymptomatic. Now things are getting back up and moving they are going to go about their normal life’s and start spreading the virus unintentionally.

Except they’ve said on numerous occasions now they don’t think it can be spread asymptomatically
 
280 deaths reported today. Which maybe means 100 a day over the weekend and yesterday.
 
Lol it was 70 when I read. They slowly up the numbers throughout the day and hope no one notices.
 
I'm using this website - figure usually varies from government figure as I think it uses Johns Hopkins data instead, but not by that much.
