I need the gym and swimming, it's genuinely getting to me. I was going to wait 1 month after them opening, but with the gym I go at such quiet times anyway I'll likely go there straight away. I'm hardly exercising at all at the moment compared to almost daily before all this.
 
I see Gavin Williamson has said there will be school fines for absence from September. That's going to go down like a rancid shit.

Yes, we've been going to Donegal most years since I was little so we've seen most of it I think.

Our house is near Magheroarty beach/Gortahork. Haven't been at all this year so excited to go in August. I would gladly live there if it didn't rule out any possibility of meeting a boy; I love it.

So you are out past Dungloe, about an hour from us I think. Beautiful. Some of the beaches really are the best in the world. The closest beach to us in Glenties is down at Portnoo, where my sister lives.

I say I am moving back but unfortunately I have a lot of ties here and have 2 kids who would prefer to stick around here. I will end up back someday, I’m sure.

My daughter is almost 18 and has a boyfriend here so has no intentions of coming over to Ireland to live. My son is 13 and loves it over there, and has spent most school holidays there since he was a child but wouldn’t want to go there full time, as he would be away from his Dad and am I HELL sending him to live with him full time so, yeah it probably won’t happen for a while...:(
 
Apparently the Leicester lockdown is taking place 11 days after the outbreak was first brought to the government’s attention.

Couldn’t have them ruining the triumphant pub announcement last week, could we!
 
Getting SLIGHTLY more anxious about the holiday thing now that it seems some countries aren't too happy with the reciprocal nature of the air bridges, but I'm sure once the government finally gets around to announcing them this week (yes it's been downgraded to "later this week") it will be as crystal clear and unambiguous as we're all expecting. :)

It's really not looking good in the US. New cases up 76% vs two weeks ago (a few days ago the same figure was 50%); deaths down 26% (a few days ago they were down 30%). The scale is sliding the wrong way.

California had its most new infections in a single day yesterday. Thankfully the governor Gavin Newsom seems switched on and is reacting quickly. Disneyland announced it won't be reopening after all. But I think this second wave will surge badly and quickly across the US, possibly before Europe
 
I feel it's a bit of a misnomer to call it a second wave in places like the US when despite all Trump's bragging they really were never even close to being over the first one.

Aren’t they still in their first wave?
 
I don't know you would define it - they peaked and came down considerably, so if it surges again that's the second wave, no?
 
They never came below 20,000 new daily cases before this latest surge started so it had come down but not by all that much really. Lots of variance between the states though I guess.
 
There is no definition of "second wave" to speak of, so nobody is right. But it's hard to define the US's experience of being a second wave, just peaks and troughs of the same swell. I'd define a second wave as only possible once the first has come down to manageable levels.
