I think my Christmas shopping shall be mainly done online this year. I usually enjoy going to Christmas markets/parties but I really don’t see how all that is going to work this year.
 
The relaxation of the lockdowns in Bolton and Trafford has lasted twelve full hours. I hope they enjoyed their freedom.
 
Hmmm, dropping off prezzies to my niece for her birthday next week has just got COMPLICATED.

I’ve already started mine. :shy:

I suspect there will be a huge demand for online shopping/delivery so I’m getting in early.

I usually wait until December as I like to go shopping and stop for a few festive drinks and lunch then end up half pissed and don’t do much shopping at all. That isn’t going to happen this year though. :(
 
Ron Jr goes back to school tomorrow, apparently, they have to keep all the windows open all day every day.

Going to be a great winter.

The fuck. My mate was saying they can't bring anything in from home, including reading bags or stationery.

Nothing. Theres a Spanish kid in his class who can't really speak English but can't have any extra help. They have to wear PE kit all day on PE days (again going to be great with all those windows open) and the kids a're allowed to go near each other but not within 2m of the teacher!

I LOVE a Christmas Market but honestly, that being canceled for a winter is the least of most people's problems. Get a red wine, some spices, oranges and WHACK YOURSELF OUT AT HOME. It's easy, cheaper and won't give you a headache quite as bad.

I have to say though, from all that I've seen in Germany people are still very diligent in my neck of the woods when it comes to wearing their masks when required but many also wear them outside. Completely different picture, however, once I hop across the borders to Austria (which is literally a mile away) - people largely don't give a fuck about wearing a mask anymore unless they're in a pharmacy or at a doctor's. Granted, my sample rate is only really based on the past 2 or 3 weeks after spending like half the summer in the hospital.
 
Sorry about all the questions, but are you not VULNERABLE? A tad selfish on your employers part. :evil:

I didn't see anything wrong with working from home and I had everything I needed to do it. Connecting remotely to my work computer so I had the same things at work as I had at home but every time I went into the office to collect work or phoned up the boss asked "when are you coming back then?" so once I knew Mr F would be OK on his own after the surgery I said I'd come back after my fortnight "hols" which was yesterday. A litte bird told me certain staff members were bending her ear because I wasn't in the office to answer phonecalls so they thought I wasn't doing my fair share of work. Well they're in for a bit of a shock because I was doing a lot of little things that were technically their work instead of forwarding the emails to them, but no more. One of them asked me today why I'd emailed to tell her there were new tax codes for one of their clients so she should log on our HMRC account and get them. She said she thought I was doing all the PAYE notices so I said I was too busy for all that now that I was back in the office and answering the phone (that dig went unchallenged as expected). Fifteen minutes later she had to ask me how to enter the previous pay and tax details so I pointed her in the direction of the payroll software crappy training videos. It would've taken me five minutes but it took her half an hour because she didn't have a clue. I hate to be a bitch about it but they chose to complain about me working from home so they can deal with their increased-workload consequences.

Yes, I'm vulnerable but am now at the point where I think if I'm going to get it, I'm going to get it, I can't stay locked in the house forever. I'm still being very careful and if I get it and die then they'll have to do all of my bloody work won't they?! :D
 
You are damn right not giving your colleague any help. If they are clever enough to bitch behind your back regarding you working from home then they are clever enough to get bloody on with it.

As long as you weren't forced back in to it, and you feel safe being back at work then fair enough.

If I didn't feel safe I wouldn't go in. If I told my boss I didn't feel safe and said I wanted to go back to working at home she'd let me, albeit with a bit of grumbling but she knows I work damned hard and she can trust me to get things done when they need to be done with the minimum of fuss. I also deal with the annoying clients so she doesn't have to. I'm one of those lucky employees who knows how much their boss appreciates them.
