i have no sympathy for this government but they really can't win from where we are at: be accused of being trigger happy and closing up when cases are relatively low etc or carry on and the situation spirals out of control and the population will be "why the fuq did you not act sooner?!"
 
On my way into Tesco, I saw a young-ish bloke looking angry clutching a 9 pack of loo roll. "FFS, not AGAIN", I thought. But no, he was just an angry lad. No rush on the stuff, no obvious stock shortage.

Maybe he's constipated.

Anyway, we're screwed, I reckon. Closures again, including shops.

Feels that way to me too, but also guts me. My gym is actually one of the few places I see where the socially distancing measures in place are actually keeping people apart properly and are being adhered to.
 
Rumour has it pubs will have a 10pm curfew, and not be closing altogether at the moment.
 


This winds me up on two fronts.

First, why is her off the news and not the prime minister telling me this.

Two, if it's a narrow chance, why not go in a bit stronger and better save people's health and lives. At the end of the day, most people would give up a week or two more of pub time to stop their nan from dying, surely?
 
Didn’t he last address the nation when he was extending lockdown in like, May? :eyes:
 
I entirely fail to see what difference closing pubs at 22:00 will make. This is ENGLAND for God’s sake. People will just drink more quickly, totally forget about any rules and continue to write Donald Duck and the Chatback number on any track and trace whatnots. I know I WOULD!

Hence we've been sanitising everything that comes in since March - it's a little bit tedious going through all your shopping wiping down all the packages but a bit easier using those wet wipe things

Big wow, shutting the pubs an hour earlier will TOTALLY stop this skyrocketing virus in its tracks :D

Honestly I know history repeats itself but I never realised people had such a short memory that they don't remember how pissing about at the start of wave 1 just meant we had a 5 month lockdown instead of a short sharp 3 week one.

Really it should be raised in Parliament first and debated but we’ve known since day one they treat it with contempt
If they shut the pubs altogether there’d be an expectation to extend furlough. Obviously our glorious leaders will not do that.
Now all the hourly paid bar workers will lose out on pay with no additional support and the businesses themselves are going to suffer. This might just finish them off.
 
I can't see how the curfew will make a huge difference if the idea is to keep people socialising in an outdoor socially distant area like parks and beergardens. The temperature's going to plummet after today driving people inside anyway.
 
I made my first complaint yesterday. The uni halls next door are doing fuck all about the rule of six and for the third night in a row, I’ve been woken up by large groups of students partying on the green opposite. I must confess the grassing is probably more for my own personal sleep requirements than Coronafear but there you go. Not proud about it but furious the university is all in our local media going on about how they won’t tolerate any transgressions and then their security guards are stood there just watching...

Reversal of the work from home advice is welcome, the question is whether our work will actually follow it. They pulled us back in the second the advice changed last time so I have a feeling there'll be considerable reluctance.

Sat here in the office with an ioniser on my desk and masking up when the boss decides to invade my space.
 
We didn't have many people come back to the office due to the government advise so we likely won't see too much difference.

A 10pm curfew is pissing in the ocean. Now, a 10am curfew, THAT is something I would support.
 
What an absolute NONSENSE. A 10pm curfew will make no difference whatsoever. What was the point in Vallance and Whitty coming out yesterday to then announce such little change today? I do agree that is all clearly part of a bigger plan to put the onus on the public rather than our Mickey Mouse government.

I wonder if Nicola Sturgeon will go with the same guidelines.
 
10pm really is pointless. Most pubs close at 11 or 12 anyway. I guess they are getting people used to it prior to the potential inevitable full on closures.
 
Yeah most pubs around here have all but emptied out by 10 anyway. At best, it's a "nudge", a "take this seriously or else" (spoiler alert, no one will)
 
Boris is going to be outlining the new restrictions at 12.30. I thought it was 10pm! :o
