It's already fucking hard to run pubs, clubs and restaurants, I don't think wanting to protect the livelihoods of people who work in industries we all rely on to not just be cogs in the capitalist machine is something to shoot people down in flames over.

That was the case in Northern Ireland for a while when lockdown started easing but all that meant was that pubs started serving cheese boards to technically be classed as a “restaurant” or something.

I don't see why they would double-down on curfews. They make things worse because everyone leaves at the same time and making it earlier would mean people wouldn't spread out over the evening. They either need to close entirely or never close at all.

There is barely any point in a pub opening on a weekday if they have to shut at 7pm. Two hours at best of the post-work crowd?

One thing that the whole business about the vaccine yesterday was that it made me feel that, if this thing is going to last for a really long time, it really isn’t at all feasible to keep locking places down over and over again. If the higher numbers of cases aren’t materialising in a really significant increase in hospitalisations then what really are we doing it for?
