Still wanting some reports on demographics of the deaths and hospitalisations, but they are rarely revealed.

What is the ENDGAME with this?

The Government most likely cannot afford to vax the whole population every six months and as a society we can’t live in a perpetual state of lockdown winters and restrictions in spring and autumn.

Once every 6 months should also be much easier than 12-18 weeks between double doses and delaying based on age. I hope/expect there will be more research into the vulnerabilities in certain people vs the asymptomatic, and better solutions in a couple of years too.

Probably not, especially since vaccines will only get cheaper as they improve the manufacturing process etc. and that further research may result in them improving their effectiveness so that the time between vaccinations will increase.

So would getting my booster now (6 months after my second shot, when the immunity has worn down) be bad or not? It seems like it would be good but then I’m not sure

Admittedly I said the cost, but I do also mean the practicality. I’m pretty sure that the vaccination programme has taken up significant capacity in primary care that people rely on to access support for all manner of other illness.
 
Remember it's just the antibodies that fade after 3-6 months (which is normal, the body doesn't "like" to keep things floating around for too long unnecessarily, just untidy really innit?). When the media is saying "immunity" they're being disingenuous (I might have done the same in a poor mood, don't get me wrong), there's no evidence to suggest that the longer term memory T cell immunity doesn't stick around - which encounters the virus and triggers the generation of fresh antibodies, and stop it from becoming serious

However it's still best the vulnerable have the induced antibodies so that they bypass the "sniffling and spreading it around" stage where they'd be passing it to e.g. other care home residents some of whom might not have such a good immune system. Plus even if it doesn't hospitalise them with the "delayed" T cell immunity (if I understand it right), it could still be pretty hard on them.
 
The LAMBDA variant is coming hunz. More infectious and probably vaccine-resistant :zombie:
 
They are going to be quite sorry about this naming convention when they get to the Omega variant.

Lambda's been around for a bit, thought it was sightly less infectious than Delta though hence it hasn't already taken over (remember how insanely rapidly Delta took over!)
 
On a train right now and sat opposite some anti-vaxxers chatting about their friend who works in a care home who is losing her job over it. None of them wearing masks and one has her lips plumped up with fillers so she looks like she’s had a bad allergic reaction to something. I bet she hasn’t got a clue as to the contents of what’s been put into her body :manson:
 
I was looking forward to finally having an overseas holiday in Croatia this week... and then my pre-departure PCR test came back positive this morning.

Thankfully I'm feeling fine (had a bit of a cold over the last week which I guess was actually covid) but ten days of house arrest isn't exactly what I'd been planning :angry:
 
It's apparently 1 in 60 in the north west. Statistically that means someone at work has it :zombie:

Bloke from a band who plays in my local, antivax, denier, obese, diabetes... in ICU...
