This weekend is SO WEIRD! It's usually one of the most social of the entire year!

Pretty much EVERYTHING seems to have been cancelled and EVERYBODY seems to either have covid, or are basically quarantining to avoid covid to enable them to have some sort of Christmas. I predict at-home-drinking to go through the ROOF tonight :D

In all seriousness, I'm so worried about the situation. See I would like to get to see my mom and my sister this Christmas, haven't seen them in over two years now. My sister lives in Qatar and they're SO STRICT with their rules. The UK and Germany are already on their red list and we can't be that far away for making it too. Now if we can only drag it out until the 24th before we go into our omicron era that would be great!
 
How does the spread of omicron in the UK compare to South Africa and the other countries it hit before here? And what are those countries doing in response?
 
I believe it seems to have peaked in the region of SA it was discovered in, I think only Denmark has an outbreak comparable to the UK so far.
 
It doesn’t seem to be capable of replacing Delta does it, which is what we all need it to do

Hardly a surprise. It should really be NOW but they’re never going to wreck Christmas again after everything that’s gone on…
 
I wonder if small businesses will get any help again, or if non essential shops will have to close. I'm hoping we still get to open.

Sky Twitter alert. And if you Google there's newspaper reports. Although at the moment it just seems to be pubs to close indoors, outdoor service only, and mixing between house holds.
 
The outdoor service thing is bollocks as most will just close as it will be completely unviable to open in DECEMBER WEATHER and I imagine no financial support will be offered seeing as they’re technically still allowed to be open.
 
What day will it be brought in? I mean there’s no point starting it until the new year because NO ONE is going to follow the rules until after.
 
Wales are shutting nightclubs and banning indoor mixing from the 27th aren't they? I imagine we'll follow suit but good luck enforcing THAT!

My mum is trying to get me to come up before my quarantine is over despite the fact we’re having my dying Grandma over for lunch on Christmas Day.
