Same story here, also did multiple lat flows and a PCR and all negative 7 days into having a cold. I’m boostered, my parents are boostered, so it all felt safe and 99% is.

But this worry whether it’s just a cold or a 21st century plague decimating the population is not fun at all.

He's doing one more test today then off to his mum's, which I think is a bit risky, but apparently she and his sister INSISTED.
 
Just spoke to my Dad who went his best friend’s daughter’s wedding last week. Turned out to be a super-spreader event. Luckily he’s tested negative but he’s awaiting PCR just to be certain, but the whole bridal party and anyone who danced a lot has tested positive.

I’ve gone back and forth on likelihood over the past few days but it is nice to know definitively.
 
Still not got the result from my Wednesday morning PCR. Seems kinda pointless since my symptoms started Saturday…
 
Just rang my mum to say safe journey home to my sister for tomorrow and she asked me "what do you reckon?" so I asked what about, thinking I'd missed something. Turns out that my anti-vax brother tested positive on a LFT this morning. I spent four hours with him at my mum's house on Christmas Eve, hugged him and drove him and his wife home in my car with all the windows up for fifteen minutes because it was pissing down. As soon as I got off the phone I rang spawn as she was also there Christmas Eve and she's out at a party with friends. Why the hell did my sister-in-law not text or ring us?! My mum's frantic because her and my sister went to visit my elderly Aunty this morning, who refused to go for Christmas Dinner at my cousin's or my mum's because she didn't want to chance catching it.

I'm visiting my brother and my two nieces on Wednesday. They're home from school for a week now and they tested negative yesterday, so should be all good.

Unable to fit my unvaccinated sister and her unvaccinated husband into my busy schedule until 2 January. :( :( :(

Does COVID have such a fast turnaround? If you all got it from him on Xmas eve, would you be contagious by Boxing Day morning?

Anyway hopefully not, especially if you were masked and vacced up

I imagine you'd be a little bit contaguous at any stage, because you'd have active virus in your system. But the chances are likely to be low as it's not had the chance to replicate to a higher viral load.
 
I’m (not really) enjoying my family one by one catch the pandemic fatigue syndrome which is spreading faster than omicron is, all this “it’s just a cold now” chatter which isn’t helped by the fact that some of them got it this past fortnight and had a cold, forgetting that I had it JUST A MONTH AGO and it was bloody awful.

We have a family party tomorrow in a hall we booked months ago and everyone has agreed to still go but “be careful”, even thought some of them will “forget” to do tests beforehand or will have “run out”

But my cousin who lives in Ireland did put a great post on the family whatsapp today saying “I hope you don’t mind that we’ll all be wearing masks tomorrow because we’ve spent hundreds of pounds on tests to get us back into Ireland and can’t take any risks, but I’m sure you’re all doing tests”… I hope that guilts a few of them into considering their behaviour

It’s all becoming a bit TETCHY now.

It's not really whether I'd caught it or am contagious yet, it's more the fact that he's had a positive test and still hasn't bothered to tell me twenty-four hours after his result. If I hadn't rang my mum last night I'd still be none the wiser and I think that's pretty shoddy, not to give people the heads-up to be extra-cautious as soon as you can so that they can also do damage limitation. Now that I know I'll be doing LFTs before I go anywhere because I don't want to take the chance that I may infect other people.

I have lots from being handed them in Central London in the Summer (when they couldn’t give them away). I ended up posting some out to friends. If I was in London I would send you some!

I usually get the big boxes from work, but we can't even get them there at the moment, which is pretty rubbish considering how closely we work with people!

Suspect they wanted to (or perhaps should have) brought in further measures but the Cabinet wasn’t having it. No doubt some slightly stronger language will make everything better.
 
it's utterly disgusting that the Tories won't vote for more stringent restrictions just to appease their "freedom loving" base who are too fucking selfish to give up anything for the good of the country. where's that "blitz spirit" that they love to call on?

Ah you mean the Blitz that none of them were alive to remember or live through? I am sure it was not all cheeky winks and reprises of ‘Let’s All Go Down The Strand’ under the actual bombardment. :D

Thing is, I am not even sure it is the base - a few polls show the parliamentary party now quite apart from the voting base and, in a more limited sense, even the membership itself. They have completely lost the plot - a government, it’s PM and any leadership contenders at the complete mercy of ultra-libertarians.

For once, guys, maybe just err on the side of caution? Perhaps Carrie has ordered too many cheeseboards and can’t cancel her Ocado order.

27% increase in hospitalisations in England the week to 19th December, huge spike in NHS staff off sick. All very depressing.

I read on the Guardian website the other day that Gove and Dorries were the ones in the cabinet in favour of more caution. It has come to something to have to rely on those two.

One thing I read the other day is that LFTs are a good indicator of whether or not you are infectious or not. So if you feel it is likely you are positive but still testing negative on latty flow, it’s a good sign that your infectiousness is low.

I was having a chat to some friends in Manchester who i’m supposed to be seeing for New Year. They were asking how I was feeling about the risk, and basically right now I can’t imagine anything being more risky than simply existing in London.
