Could you kill a lobster?

WELL?

No. My partner got live lobsters for Christmas a few years ago. They lived in their little plastic crate for a day until he cooked them. I felt really badly about it, they were so cute. My brother named them Robbi and Tobbi, which didn't help.

I'll still have lobster rolls though.

Much like OCTOPUS lobster is something I feel very bad eating, especially once learning the average restaurant one lives to around 20, and they can theoretically live 10 times longer.

However I was recently presented with a plate of lobster linguine and wolfed it down QUITE WILLINGLY. I of course believe in evolution, but sometime I have my doubts, because surely evolution would cause animals to be LESS DELICIOUS?

Like evolution caused lobsters to develop a whole exoskeleton but never thought to ward off prey by tasting LESS DELICIOUS?

Only in exceptional circumstances, such as dinner time (or tea time for pervert northerns)

I used to work at a restaurant in Glasgow where the kitchen staff would race the lobsters before boiling them alive.

I would not kill one myself, but I would (and do) eat lobster that someone else has killed

I don't know - but my cats would volunteer glady. I just had to reunite a mother and baby mousey in death, who had a run in with the boys - or as I like to refer to them - the Kray Twins. It was proper horrorshow in the livingroom. Lobsters scream don't they?

I had grilled lobster in a restaurant in Menorca the other day and I was asked to pick one from the lobster tank opposite my table and after picking it I swear all the other lobsters in the tank seemed to be staring in my direction.

So to answer your question, to eat, yes.

Yes I could kill a lobster, but no I would not kill a lobster unless a) I was starving to death and needed to eat it otherwise I'd die or b) it was so badly injured I had to put it out of its misery.

I think I could. I would just need to look away and for it to be quick. So yeah, the pot would probably do it!

I've accidentally had one killed - I ordered lobster and assumed it would come pre-dead but they took one out of the tank and I felt terrible about it. I still ate it, mind.

That's because they were about to give it a surprise birthday party.

No. A life's a life as far as I'm concerned, so if you could kill a lobster you could kill anything.

On that basis I could kill a lobster. I was a spree killer of ants as a child.

Love turkey. Way better than chicken.

I've just seen a space suited man get blow-torched in the film Prometheus (2012) and my first thought was those poor lobsters.

I prefer crab to lobster.

But way prefer chicken to turkey.

I really want a proper crab sandwich now I've said that.

Not enough to kill the crab though. Even though (or perhaps because) my dad and brother used to go crabbing all the time when we were young.

I remember my grandma once getting fresh crabs delivered. She then proceeded to pull one leg off at a time and for a while the poor thing was still trying to walk :(

She should have been dressed in a giant cat costume as she did this.
