Cover versions that improved on the original

The Everything But The Girl original is good and Ramirez cheated a bit by applying a Todd Terry-esque mix to this mimicking his and their own work on EBTG’s Missing and Wrong but this works well.

the original of this is a great 80s song. but No Doubt and Nellee Hooper elevated it to something else entirely. probably in my all-time top 10.

to say the somewhat noisy original received a significant upgrade hardly begins to cover it :eyes: this really sounds like a Lana song through and through.

Are some of these covers or more songs that were just given to multiple artists across different territories around the same time?
 
I do like the Donna Summer version, but the Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman version STILL gives me goosebumps to this day, even though I have heard it a million times.
 
The Don Henley version of this is so boring and condescending by comparison. It really needed a jaded Nepo baby like LMP to give it the appropriate semi-ironic sneer.

Really shocked he never wrote any songs especially for her given he really liked her and enthusiastically attended lots of her early shows.
 
It was in Canada but I think they pulled the plug because Money Changes Everything underperformed relative to the first four singles.

I get that they felt they "didn't need to" make a music video for All Through The Night (I guess this thread could be Cyndi galore with her She's So Unusual album), but it arguably hurt the potential as MCE still wasn't a proper video and that riff was so radio ready. Did her book shed much light on her career slowdown? I could maybe give the book a hunt down and see for myself of course. My feeling is She's So Stubborn etc.

It’s been years since I listened to the audiobook but she was clearly very still upset about the A Night To Remember period. She lost a lot of creative control and was being told who to write with, what to sing etc. and lost direction. And she broke up with her manager fiancé around that time so it all contributed.
