Just watching the first episode of this and it's absolutely AMAZING.

No news on any UK channels picking it up?

I started watching this the other day, it's nice but a bit light on plot. I'm hoping it gets better.

The Sexy Getting Ready song is very catchy.

I adore it. I'm not sure where any of the criticism comes from. It's a BILLION times better than Glee with the story, characters and original, genuinely funny songs.
 
It's quite fun. Surprised E4 didn't pick it up and KILL IT TO DEATH by alternating it with episodes of The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.
 
It being an hourlong might make it less E4 friendly. Regardless, I'm three episodes in and it's absolutely wonderful. And SWOON at Santino Fontana. Prince Hans in me now.

Jane the Virgin is more fun, it's quick and they burn through plot like crazy. This is four episodes and we're still dealing with Josh and that's about it, on Jane they'd be a murder, a stolen baby, an affair, a heist all in the space of one episode.

Also the men are way hotter in Jane the Virgin.

dub and I have the same sense of humour so i'm going to throw myself into this on his recommendation (no pressure)
 
Well yes the men are hotter on Jane The Virgin, but I think that's some of the charm with Crazy Ex Girlfriend. The fact that Josh is such a nice-but-dim average person, yet she's obsessed with him despite her intelligence.
 
I motored through this after a friend recommending it to me. It's absolutely hilarious and has so much heart. Even the songs that miss the mark have their charms and some of them are just FABULOUS.
 
Three episodes in and I'm finding the musical numbers charming, the rest less so. The supporting characters are really thinly drawn, even the intermittently fun best friend. Not to be cynical but I hope at some point they acknowledge why Josh would give the time of day to an obvious crazed stalker, because his motivation for wanting to spend time with her is pretty much non-existant so far.

I'll bear with it though, because I really do like the songs.
 
There's an album of commentary tracks on each number on Spotify and iTunes now. Very interesting if you like that sort of thing.

Finished it this weekend. Once I accepted that a lot of the behaviour wasn't supposed to be grounded in reality I really enjoyed it. I mean don't get me wrong, elements of Rebecca were disturbingly relatable, but Josh's continued willingness to be blind to her demented stalker behaviour, and her own blindness to Paula's obvious mental health problems never rang particularly true, and it took me a few eps to get past that.

Darryl and White Josh are just too adorable, and I love that they're the only sane, grounded couple in the show. I hope they don't get torn apart next season. :evil: Surprisingly for a male-fronted vocal, Gettin' Bi was definitely in my top 5 musical performances too.

Another moan was that I felt the actress playing Heather was basically just doing a passable Aubrey Plaza impersonation, but she ended up growing on me and I liked her arc with Greg.

Speaking of, despite not finding the Josh/Rebecca dynamic hugely believable, I ended up preferring them as a potential romantic duo to Rebecca and Greg, although it's pretty obvious that's where the endgame is going.

But yes on the whole very good, looking forward to Season 2.

The first episode of Season 2 is on Netflix now and thankfully it's just as charming and hilarious.

Nobody else still watching? The ratings are pretty horrible so I fear it may not get a third season. :(

They've done some really interesting things this season, but to be honest I can see why it isn't picking up much of a following. Basically abandoning the love triangle conceit, writing out one of the male leads 3 episodes in and making the lead character intentionally insufferable do not mass appeal television make.

Shame though because I'm loving Paula more than ever this season, and it was nice to see White Josh and Daryl getting some screen time in the most recent episode.

I've started with this. The dialogue and characters are patchy, but the musical breaks are fucking everything. They have kept me intrigued for sure.
 
Triangle really is LIFE. CAN't stop watching it.

Oh and "Ghost Snake" is a must on spotify

I appreciate what they're trying to do, but I'm not sure I particularly care about giving Valencia a redemption arc.

I still enjoy it, but Rebecca is just so hard to like at this point. Paula really is the saving grace of the show. I hope Donna Lynn Champlin gets another good gig if/when this does get cancelled. She's been fantastic.

It certainly appears that all of my favourite shows get cancelled quite early, apart from The Good Wife. Maybe I have shit taste, because I couldn't be less interested in some of the biggest TV shows of late.
 
I think its only hope now is for Netflix to pick it up - supposedly it does quite well on there.

I've been watching this slowly such is my limited affinity with it... a lo and behold I finally got to an episode I enjoyed all the way through. The one about the text and Paula and her hubbie breaking the forth wall (kind of).
