Cyndi Lauper - Bring Ya to the Brink - SYNC LISTEN

Echo gets on the 3-way line with Janice Robinson and Temeka Starr (currently taking bookings for joint PAs - if you didn't know, now you do).

Livin' Joy ... reverberating into Cyndi's utopia. The power and fragility of her voice is utilized beautifully here.

Lyfe, that's what. It may contain the title lyric, but this is the dead weight of the album and if nothing else burns from the same candle as Hat Full of Stars, Sisters of Avalon and would have been a dimmer moment on Shine also. The only thing surprising is that Jan Pulsford doesn't have a credit on it (add her to the list of Cyndi fall-outs).

The sickest surge of house disco this side of RoL era Kylie or 90s Todd Terry. Morel is a talent that's for sure and Cyndi is melded with the music on her most kinetic performance since Money (in my opinion - she just has so much abandon here, as a fan I just find it really gratifying to hear her like this).

Much like I'd swap Lyfe for Got Candy, I'd ditch the dismal disco here for Can't Breathe. A bit of a dry patch if you ask me, but I'm appreciating more than I ever did now.

The MTV line. I remember she did the red carpet with Boy George and Carson Daily basically called them has beens. I imagine she's been sitting on that line ever since.

Time for the biggest bruise in Cyndi's career since hate crime lesbian Diane warren cock blocked the Bette Midler impersonating I Don't Want To Be Your Friend being a single.

Oh Cyndi you absolutely stubborn old fool. This was your chance (something something, Trya rooting for you, etc). If you had swallowed your pride like the young peice in your lyrics finding the rent you'd have found yourself a hit even if it meant having the song be released as Kleeryp ft. Cyndi Lauper and I'm sure his label would have put up some of the costs as well.

The dosage of beats is lethal. Her Stevie Nick's moment nevermind Robyn.

It's just loves despair is theee moment she hits the ground running.

The crush of a kiss - the rise and fall

We'll surely never know the whole truth, but I'd say thanking everyone bar him on your sleeve and him re-recording the track as Thank You For Nothing says it all.

Cyndi can clearly be a demon to work with. Mark Saunders had to compromise at every turn with her (and we got a lesser album than what could have been as a result even if it's still a bit of an intriguing oddity that is a real hidden gem).

Boring old Jan may not have been too much of a loss (but I don't think we'd have gotten so lost in the stop-gap wilderness had she been kept on).

I remember my jaw hitting the floor when I saw her live in Glasgow telling off that backing singer who looks like Diane Warren (I love to hate you, I really do, etc), so I know what I believe.
