Dannii Minogue - I Kissed A Boy (BBC THREE)

HA Ruben's reaction at the final kiss off. DESERVED what he got.
Highlight obviously Disremembrance at the end

Dannii reaching new levels of Minogue beauty on this episode.

Just onto the final kiss offs. I still think the show doesn't last long enough for much in the way of relationships to blossom.

Were the viewing figures that bad?

It was good having a show where we see a group of LGBT folk interact with each other, so for that I'm disappointed.

I Kissed A Girl sophomore season still coming first though at least.

The BBC have said it’s due to “funding issues”.

You hear a lot of hysterical posts from the likes of Pink News etc about conspiracy at the likes of Netflix to curtail queer content when most of the decisions seem in line with their general commissioning approach, but with this and the BBC, you have to wonder?

Remember about 10 years ago when the BBC had that heartwarming sitcom with a trans woman dating a cis man? Unthinkable now.

Seems to be part of a broader trend. If it isn’t picked up by another broadcaster I certainly will wonder!

Re: that sitcom, I totally agree. I liked the premise of the show but found the casting really awkward - Rebecca Root was clearly so much older than her love interest.

The social media discourse around the last season with totally centered on the transgender contestant Lars and it was a horrible pile on in the name of "protecting" gay men from a "creepy straight woman masquerading as a gay guy" - as if any of those people give a fuck about gay people anyway. I fear for the sanity of the contestants if this new series has a MTF lesbian contestant.

Dare I say - sadly there is just absolutely no way they would go there for the obvious reasons.

I think the hyperbole about this being a sign of gays being out of favour and abandoned is a bit extreme.

Even just on the BBC we still have Drag Race and Smoggie Queens is coming back for a second season imminently.

I don’t think I’ve successfully ever finished any of the I Kissed A seasons despite really enjoying it generally. There is just probably not enough interest to cost benefit.

Regardless of sexuality/contestants, the format and style doesn't really suit the BBC at all. It would be better off at Netflix as part of the machine line production of different countries using the same crew/villas for dating shows.

I'm amazed it's been cancelled for cost reasons. How much can hiring one masseria for a fortnight cost?

They should do it in different UK cities and have them all stay in a hostel. Cheap, messy and regional - and presented by someone like Kerry Katona or Kelly Wilde. Or a LGBT only series of a Married At First Sight type format.
