Apparently his physical health had been in decline for a few years. Some broken bones didn't heal too well.

Yes, I remember reading his health hadn't been great, but don't recall if it was life threatening.

'Torch' is very much my Soft Cell track of choice, and would feature very highly in any list of my favourite 80s tracks.
