Apart from copious amounts of alcohol, how do you all deal with stress?
I can try that!I have a "Live Love Laugh" cushion. Every night, I punch fuck out of it for 15-20 minutes.
Moopy I have a question.
I've been a manager for over a year now looking after a team of 15. I've never wanted to be a manager and I hate responsibility.
There's a lot to my job and a lot of organising which I'm usually ok with.
But in the last 6 months I've found it all very overwhelming. I find myself working from home. Checking emails on my days off. Trying to plan my week after time off.
I've never been one to think "ooh I must have a mental health problem". But I feel like my work is taking over my life.

I don't have a work mobile and every single one of my team has my personal numberI would suggest to leave your work mobile/laptop at work, so then you won’t be tempted to check anything whilst at home. If anyone is contacting you on your personal mobile then direct them to your work mobile phone and tell them you will get back to them within working hours.

I need to delete my emails which people have told me for ages but then I worry about what I'll come back to. At least if I check them daily I know what to expect.
I'm not helping myself I realise.
True. I can handle the being contacted our of work thing usually. It's more the day to day workload and trying to fit everything in when we are short staffed and covering sickness etc.Get a work mobile darling. If anyone is phoning you on your personal number then direct them to your work mobile. You need to learn to treat your work and home life separately as it really is not healthy for them to merge in to one. In regards to work emails- leave them at work. No one can have a go at you for missing an email if you have been on holiday, or if it’s the weekend.

Rachey you are only employed by the company for so many hours per week. If problems arise out with working hours it is not your problem darling. Your mental health and well being is so much more important than your work. Please request a work mobile, and put a memo out to all staff that they must contact you on that from now on.
Firm is something I'm not at all good at. But I know I need to try. What Rita said. Once you start drawing a clearer line between work and home, you ought to start feeling better. I know your colleagues are also your friends but you need to be FIRM with the fuckers on this.
I've discussed this already with my manager. They don't think I'd like stepping down and watching someone else look after the team. But it's my decision I guess. Although financially I'd struggle. If you still don't feel like being a manager, then maybe consider going back to a previous role? It's worth it if it's better for your health.

Lolly - so today I've had one of them message because she's on rota tomorrow but has already done her hours and didn't know she was in. So now I've had to contact the other manager to get her to look into it or I'll probably have to go in to cover. They get their rota 8 weeks in advance but never check it until the day before.
She did by FB messenger the same as me. But the other manager is working so hasn't had a chance to check messages. Unlike me.Why didn't she contact the other manager herself? You're not at work.

I kind of got pushed into this role. I have no idea what happened.THIS! If you never wanted to be a manager, don’t be a manager!
I never wanted to be a manager, so I don’t be a manager
