I remember borrowing it from the library on cassette (oh the GLAMOUR) at the time, but don't remember that much of it at all from song title alone.
 
I danced with her (for about 5 seconds tops) to Theme From S'Express in The Arches in Glasgow, she left lipstick on my cheek and poured me a vodka cranberry from behind her booth when I said I had work the next day. The ONLY time I've went clubbing alone, just to catch a glimpse!

I need to give this.another listen. I only bought it last year with a bunch of other albums when I went through the Virgin Book of Hit Albums looking for every dance album I didn't own.
 
I bought this out of my gritty local provincial CASH CONVERTERS when I was nine. Truth.

In fact, I was perhaps a LITTLE HARSH with my 9/10 in retrospect. It's FUCKING MARVELLOUS :disco:
 
It was also, fact fans, the very first vinyl album I replaced with the cd version...
 
Does vinyl really have a better sound experience?

I've got a miniature collection of 12" stuff, but I've never invested in an actual player. I only buy them in charity shops of course.
 
If you have a super top end stereo (and I'm talking £££££) then yes. Otherwise, it's different, yes, but better? I'd actually say not for the most part...certainly not for stuff made SINCE cds were the primary format and therefore mastered mainly for those.

I do LOVE my vinyl...

I don't ever really recall investigating them beyond Groove in the Heart, a track with can grate on me at worst. I have just heard What Is Love? and it's fucking 11 out of 10!
 
I've been lost in music with them tonight like it was the very first time again. There is no higher calibre of pop goddess than Lady Kier in her 90s vintage peak. I'm genuinely in awe of that woman's voice, lyrics and the kitsch go-go dancing that makes everyone else look like bums. I do not understand why no solo album ever materialized. Perhaps to pay the Sega legal fees, she did shows in 2005 with some new material (with only Me & My Records, performed with Manila from Drag Race as one of her back-up dansuz, being on youtube, with there being at least one other new song performed), but this was now almost 15 years ago. I guess she leaves the most untouchable of trails and it's better to leave them wanting more, etc.

Taking me places tonight were Runaway remixes, Call Me, River of Freedom (as ever, it's a stream of conscience rave-trance fantasia that I just instantly fell in love with as it's so dreamy and full of escapism), Fuddy Duddy Judge (a near fatalistic tint to its grind of funk and lyrical disarray given the current state of anxiety), Thank You Everyday, and "peanut butter, there's no doubt". Infinity Within may not be nearly as songful as World Clique, but the instrumentation (and I include Kier's voice here as ripe as ever) is really cranked up a notch. Dewdrops can be a bit of a shift for some, but it's aged beautifully - the way that it all just oozes out may get in the way of a more conventional structure to some of the songs, but it's very much a long playing experience and the genre blurring much more bold than they were given credit for given Towa had left, only to be persuaded by Kier to do at least one song (although I think they strongly dislike each other even now).
 
Does anyone know anything of an alleged tv show "Film It" episode "Posh Soho"? Lady Kier was in it and I'd love to see it. From 2019.
 
Lady Kier has long vanished from social media. I hope her unexpected yet, yes, delightful spout of PAs from around 20 years ago were enough to recoup the SEGA saga.

She just had the IT factor beyond what any success could have rewarded her with. But just imagine a world where she had continued a creative and commercial ascension.

How a solo career from her slipped through the cracks I'll never know. I rather suspect it was the drugs that just got in the way. The slather of collaborations weren't exactly emphatic showcases of what could have been, but the performed Me & My Records did absolutely flash us with her vintage appeal.

Not to downplay the once gorgeous Dmitry, but she and Towa were absolute innovators and auteurs - despite him thanking Kier in his Sound Museum (1997) inlay, their relationship seemed equally as poisoned as the break up with Dmitri. DJ Ani though: I looked him up recently and at the time he was asking for help with medical bills.

World Clique remains impeccable. Infinity Within is much less songful, but the band are infused, tight and ripe. Dewdrops is their casually, low key masterpiece and has aged like fine wine. Apple-juice kissin' Baby we're blissin'

Intrigued? I think you should be. Some Deee-Lite deep cuts if Groove is your only go-to.

I was listening to Confidence Man's last album last week and at one point found myself expecting to hear "spirit of looooove, come to uuuus". The sound was also totally in vogue a few years back now. I got the re-issue on vinyl when it came out and I rarely get those. They were just so immersed in DJ/club culture that I guess the format felt oddly necessary.

I had no idea about all that backstory of the group. Sad how things fall out over the years.
