I was surprised there wasn't already a thread, but perhaps I missed it. This is one of my all time favourite albums. A lot could be said about the circumstances under which this album was made, but if you focus on the music, there's a good collection of songs. They really put their mind and soul in this album. Especially the first 4 tracks are great, they segue into each other fantastically. The fact that they used real instruments for this also makes me enjoy it a lot more.

After 10 tracks Natalie's voice starts to grate a little though. Also some tracks at the end are a little too long and could do with 1,5 minutes cut off. But apart from that it's really a solid effort. 9/10

I love this album, it's the only Dixie Chicks album I have and I bought it when I was in Texas. I remember the lady at Walmart when I bought it saying they were playing a show in Texas soon but that there was a lot of resistance to it. I was staying with a friend and I had to hide the CD from her dad who had banned their music from the house!

The first half is AMAZING, but after Favourite Year it gets really boring.

I think I prefer the other three (Home being the best), but it's great. The first four songs are brilliant.

Long Way Around is such a classic and Bitter End is gorgeous. adore Easy Silence and Everybody Knows. it's been years since I heard Not Ready to Make Nice but what a song. if I remember the album falls off in the second half but maybe I'll listen through today.
