When I was younger I would get upset quite easily at certain moments in life, but nowadays I feel very numb to it all

I don't seem to have much of a reaction now to bad things happening. I do go over and over things in my mind, but the days of bursting into tears seem long gone

I cry at happy things, I cry at sad things, I cry when I'm overtired, I cry when I'm furious, I cry when I feel ill, I cry when I feel sorry for myself, I cry when there are cute puppies on the telly, I cry when the lion eats the zebra on wildlife programmes. Crying is the one emotion I was never been able to conquer so I gave up trying and just cry now.

I don't really cry when things are sad. I cry when things are "big", intense, and when I can't comprehend what someone must be going through. I think it's a distraction technique from having to deal with it or feel it myself.

Not to go THERE too much but it happened quite a bit on the adoption process, reading the stories of the children and their birth parents, all of whom had just come from bad situations themselves. No-one neglects a child because they're just pure evil, a lot of the neglect was an endless cycle of people not having the resources, the know how, or any past experiences to dwell on themselves. It's so sad and a big part of why I wanted to do it.

I do, but nowhere near the amount I did as an over emotional youngster. I don't think I cried once during my cancer scare or on my wedding day.

Immense pride and seeing someone overcome adversity is a big one that gets me going as well. That's more of a tissue to wipe a tear away than full on blubbing though.

Since the menopause I am like a Christmas card. I never stop greeting.

I have always been an emotional person, but I became very hard throughout my first marriage to my children’s father due to domestic abuse and I just didn’t want to show he was getting to me. That lasted for a long time and I became very detached from my feelings. To be honest I enjoy a good cry and it makes me feel better. I have been known to put on a weepy film so I can just sit and cry to let it all out if things are getting on top of me and I need a release.

Bawled myself daft in the office on Wednesday after speaking to a lovely, lovely man whose wife has dementia. He wanted to talk about her so I just let him and I was an absolute wreck by the end.

I swear we had a topic of the same question but I can't find it cause search won't give back results for 3 letters words, aaargh.
Anw I mostly cry when cats and people pass away, or when am watching or reading something that is heartbreaking.
Sometimes I may cry when something is just surprisingly beautiful, or when something somehow validates there is kindness in people.
