I'm really curious about this.

Does anyone do this? Especially reading a Fiction book and a Non-Fiction book at the same time.

Do/Did you find it annoying/rewarding/compromising?

I guess it's like watching multiple TV series. However I can't manage it and I always stick to one book at a time as it gets too confusing.

Pretty much always. But it either has to be a non-fiction and a fiction, or I'll stop one novel and read another one full through, and then pick the other one back up.

Never two novels at the same time. Or at least I may think I am, but in reality I've given up on the first one. I don't think I've ever gone back to a book I stopped reading to start another. Or at least if I have it's been much later and I've restarted it.

I frequently have multiple non fiction titles on the go simultaneously, though.

This is what I thought. I suspect it's a lot easier to do with Non-Fiction.

I did this for a while with fiction/non-fiction but it didn’t really work, so now I only read one at a time.

You could’ve stopped after ‘Do you ever read’ for me

I’ve started to do this only recently. I read a lot of non-fiction which I find quite easy to dip in and out of.

I only read one at a time. Sometimes I’ll start a second of a different genre and finish that and then return to the one I was on.

I’m like that with tv too. I rarely watch tv but when I do i block watch one thing at a time generally. If I had multiple shows on the go at the same time I’d never complete any of them.

No. I have done in the past - if I was reading something heavy with a lot of theory (usually something feminist or psychology based), I would pause with something lighter, maybe a music book like that David Quantick book about The White Album or one of those song-by-song things you can dip in and out of. Not now. My attention span is shot so one book at a time is plenty and I'd rather power on through.

Absolutely not and I don't think I could. Even books that are hard going (like the one I am on at the moment), I have to persevere with before going down a different route, I can't dip in and out at all. It amazes me that people actually can.

I've been dipping in and out of Sherlock Holmes for about three years while reading other stuff on and off, but they're mainly short stories so a bit different.

I think I have four books lying by my bed that I take turns on

I never read two fiction books at the same time but I can read a non-fiction and a fiction together.
