Don't be Tardy for the Sunday

This is the least restful week evaaaah, got up at FIVE to come to Hiroshima, now knackered from walking all day. Did take a walking video in the peace park though so that’ll be worth the 39 total views 🥴
 
The capital in Tardy has meant I read this as Tardis and completely ignored this thread until now.
 
I thought it was saying we shouldn’t be Mardy!

It’s a lazy Sunday here for me today. It’s pouring down with rain so me and Tia are lounging. I haven’t even prepared anything for Sunday lunch so it will likely be a pizza later for the troops, although I’m not really all that sure where they are right now.

I'm fucking knackered. The last 2 months of partying and camping have done me in. I have zero desire to return to normality tomorrow.
 
I've seen Roly's in Bath, Salisbury, Ilfracombe, Paignton and Plymouth this year.

But not Rachey's :(

Was last year better because there was more tourism due to people staying in the UK?
 
I think being new definitely helped us, but all the businesses in Cowes, Ryde, sandown that we've spoken to have said their sales have been hugely down compared to last year.

Other Roly's have said they're way down.

I think last year not only were people holidaying in this country, but they'd also been locked up for months so had excess money to spend.

I'm just annoyed we based our staffing this year on last year's figures, meaning we've been hugely overstaffed all year so had large expenses.

Absolutely this. People are being cautious, which I totally get. But then on the other hand we get people coming in spending £50 at a time and not batting an eyelid. It's very strange.
 
I guess the reality of what is to come hasn't really hit yet. We eat out quite a lot, and I've been thinking about how that will probably be the first thing to go for us, if needs must.

See Mandy and I discussed this, we will still eat out, and buy coffees out etc. Because it's a treat and I refuse to go without some treats.

Where will you save money then, should you need to?
 
With me giving up a high paying job at the same time as all of this, we've had to make some concessions.

I don't just buy what the fuck I like (hello vinyl!) now, and things like Rachey's fudge are the first to go. I would think nothing of finding a lovely deli/ farm food store when on a trip and spending £50-£100 on chutneys/ oils/ bits and bobs. Also, we don't eat out anywhere near what we used to and I've started really scraping about for bargains (the Tesco dented tin shelf is amazing, as I've quoted elsewhere). But I'm aware we're not the people it's really going to hit and things are fairly comfortable still...

We're not that extravagant as it is to be honest. Our mortgage is £300 a month. Then obviously bills on top but it's only a 2 bed flat.

We don't go out drinking all the time, we don't smoke etc.

I currently, if I don't waste it on pointless things, should technically have about £300 spare a month. Plus I put £100 into my isa.

If I had to cut back I guess it would be on eating out but it's not like we eat out daily.

See I had this discussion about our fudge, and people still love to buy their friends, family, colleagues etc presents when they're on holiday. Loads of our sales have been gifts, plus for Christmas and birthday presents, were cheaper than a bottle of gin!
 
Obviously I say all this now, all cocky and confident. I'm actually not overly confident, but there's no point worrying at the moment right 😬

If the worst happens, we sell the shop and I get a normal job.
