Ultimately, the fact that this narrowly failed to win Melfest feels academic, given it had the misfortune to be competing in 2020, but I do think it was fully baked and ready for a clear top 5 finish.



I'm also endlessly tickled by the teen melodrama of the chorus lyric. "JUST SHOOT ME IN THE MIDDLE WHERE MY HEART'S SUPPOSED TO BE!"

It's an impressively good piece of pop songwriting, I think her two entries since have been fantastically written pop songs too, but she's probably never gonna write another hook as primitively effective as *swishes ponytail* HOO, HOO!

This is also one of my favourite things about it as well - it's operating at a level of death by melodrama almost worthy of EVANESCENCE

It’s easily a 12 but Anna should’ve won and Dotter should have won with Little Tot instead.

Anna shouldn't have won with Kingdom Come unless she had the decency to submit it with a key change and a proper final chorus

Well yeah, but that was sort of in the air and a real possibility. Eventho it's a shame for the artists and the songwriters of the 2020 entries. Also, comparing to what we're dealing with now, it was quite harmless.
