Drag Race: Canada Vs The World

Kendall Gender is a very WORTHY queen, but I honestly find her borderline insufferable so was frankly thrilled to lose her :disco:
Something about her face just doesn't work with make up either. Definitely an example of a queen that looks far better OUT of drag than in it.
 
I agree this was a really strong first ep, with a good mix of Queens. I'm especially here for Silky, Anita, Ra'jah and most of all Rita Baga, who I could watch for days on end and not get bored.

I liked Victoria Scone last time around, but her fake voice and affected manner for the testimonials is already getting on my tits, and I swear it wasn't there before. Perhaps it's a by-product of the knee medication :(

And now I'll take time for the obligatory mention that Brook Lynn Hytes has NO BUSINESS WHATSOEVER being a judge and is weaker than the vast majority of queens competing here.
 
Decent episode. Stephanie was unfortunately out of her depth but I’m glad she stayed, maybe she can pull herself next week.

What a glow for Vanity, I thought she killed it throughout the episode. All the looks were killer and the verse was the best.

I would have put Victoria in the top over Ra’ja since both her runway and verse were meh.

Also I love how they dim the lights to neutral when the songs started. It really made the queens pop and they should do it during the runways.

And lastly I begrudgingly have to say that Silky’s look was the tits. Expensive.
 
Brooke is NOT a good presenter. Ruined the whole episode. Zero humor.

I found both the top 2 surprising but Rita was definitely high ranking. I’d have put Icesis and Victoria in the top. None were particularly bad but I find Stephanie being there odd, I don’t remember her at all. Shame for Kendall but almost worth it just for her Pork Chop Diner photoshoot with Lemon.

For me this is all about Icesis but I’m so excited for Queen Pri next episode! She is quite possibly my favourite contestant ever.
 
Sad to see Kendal leaving this early, there’s something about her and I would have wanted to see more of it.

Loved the way she bumped into Vanity and almost took one of her eyes out. :disco:
 
I cringed when Vanity said "dirty rice" within the first 4 seconds of being on air. She really thinks people are saying it huh.

Yeah I think we will be hearing that again once a don’t have a dance challenge. Happy she got a win, but I think she’ll be toast as soon as any comedy or acting challenges come along
 
Well there goes my prediction of some kind of forced Kendall/Icesis rivalry :D Likewise with Vanity being filler...well, for now. I don't know why I bother trying to predict these things, especially now we're back in the hugely successful queens sending other queens home territory...

That was a great opener, everyone clicked well and I can't say I disliked anyone at all. Well, maybe Victoria :eyes: She is a strong performer though but I can't remember her being this annoying or AFFECTED before. I think I just need time to get used to her as I'm sure she's not actually evil :)

Anjulie was the perfect guest judge, what a tonic she was in that workroom.

Vanity certainly stepped it up, the runway was striking, and some kind of redemption is always nice to see, but I'd be shocked if she continues to be a frontrunner. I'm sure there's been a trend recently where many of the first episode winners/tops end up tanking, but I might just be making that up.

Rita Baga is sublime and edged that lip sync for me just because I actually laughed (which almost never happens with "comedy" lip syncs but she had it perfected and that entire look :D) but Vanity was fine too

I think it was a fair top two but does anyone else really struggle to judge anything during these performance challenges? Everything is so rapid fire and because it's ALWAYS some kind of fast rapping with these challenges (why?) I miss half of what they say, never mind being able to follow the background girls. So when they say "you faded into the background" etc I can't even see for long enough to know whether it's true or not. It's very rare for a verse to stand out too because they're all sort of doing the same thing 🤷‍♀️
 
Other thoughts

I felt for Anita mostly because I wanted her to do well, but that outfit next to the rest...I'm guessing her budget is rock bottom from this group. She seemed okay to me during the challenge and actually quite funny, I think, but given her comments were so much worse than anyone else HOW did she not end up bottom 2?! I'm delighted of course but it almost makes no sense. I suspect the queens will mention that. Praying for a solid Anita snatch game.

Silky looked sensational. I like her anyway and hope she does well. She seemed defeated in All Stars 6 before the lip sync marathon.

I feel for Kendall, there was nothing obviously first week exit about her, in fact this feels like the wrong challenge for week 1, but oh well, she's not a major loss. The ridiculousness of Stephanie is way more fun.
 
I still can't get past how bad Brooke is. She's enough to stop watching.

I think she's fine as a presenter, which is mostly how I see the role, but it IS a bit odd her judging some superior queens. It might have helped if she'd won her season...

I don't really care though as long as she doesn't make horrible decisions
 
I don’t mind Brook, but was surprised it wasn’t Ru who’s hosting. For some reason I thought he’d do all vs the world seasons.
 
And one last comment; I do think this is the least interesting group of all All Stars seasons, and definitely one with fewest number of queens I like.
 
So are they not doing the lip sync assassin? Did the first VS the World season do that?

I can! But tbh after just watching Pixie on DRUK she seems a bit more toned down. I don’t know why I react like this, I don’t hate camp (although it was always used as a euphemism against me when I was young, I don’t think I was even that camp)

But the OHH MATRON :ken: voice DRUK often use in confessionals is really annoying. Scone is not that bad this time, but still evil sadly - maybe it’s the unbroken eye contact and no blinking
 
Just finished watching episode 2, without a doubt one of the worst episodes of the franchise (DR Italia and Philippines excluded). :zombie:

Worst reading challenge, terrible snatch game (including the hosting of it), awful looks, and even Justin Trudeau looked like a potato.

Rajah and Anita have been underwhelming, and I’m finding the Canadian queens unbearable (even if I liked them in their seasons). It’s really quite telling when it’s Silky who’s coming off as the most likable so far.
 
Another disappointing Snatch Game :( I had such high hopes for Anita, but that Adele was more Dick Van Dyke with a single canned line about divorce.

Top two aside, everyone else basically seemed to be playing themselves. Victoria Scone giving low-energy Kim Woodburn at all times anyway and then bringing the exact same to the Snatch Game was particularly annoying. It's so easy to go big with that character!

Silky's runways the main (sole?) highlight of the season thus far.
