A truly mediocre talent who got extremely lucky. Hope she’s giving at least 50% of all earnings to the director of the New Rules video.
 
Apparently the Gwen "feature" on Physical isn't a feature at all but rather a sample. It all sounds very tacked together in lieu of a proper deluxe version. I assume as she couldn't record anything new? But most artists have managed it...

God what a load of moaning myrtles in here. Future Nostalgia spawned some killer remixes already and this sounds FAB - I'm in! :disco: Gwen is her idol so the feature shouldn't be a shock, but on Physical and with Mark? Omg!

I can't say it is obviously my thing (and other than the :disco: version of Don't Start Now I don't think I’ve heard a single remix from this era), but I'll absolutely give it a listen.
 
Dua's vocal talent is undeniable. she has a recognizable voice which is key for bombastic pop records.

but good lord, i have yet to watch a performance that isn't a cringe-fest. they literally had to get 60 dancers to cover up for her lizard moves at the 2019 EMAs and we were still cringing.

stop dancing, love. take notes from queen Jessie Ware and dance ironically while staring into the camera every now and then. the gays love that.

Her performances of Don't Start Now were routinely incredible, particularly the festive version she did on (I think) Fallon/Kimmel, so hush @joanne (but thankyou for recognising her vocal charisma)

Gwen Stefani is a legend and an incredible popstar (solo and with No Doubt) and anyone who DOUBTS IT can TAKE A HIKE

Gwen is FINE, but of all the pop stars that have graced us with their presence on earth, she wouldn’t even make my Top 50. There was always something a bit VACANT about her. A bit like Dua Lipa actually...

Having a "Recognizable voice" doesn't make you talented. Singing WELL makes you talented.

I put Dua in the same boat as Rihanna. Mediocre vocal skills at best, but great music, charismatic and really hot.
 
“Charismatic” definitely wouldn’t be a word I’d use to describe her. She has all the charisma of a DISHCLOTH. I don’t even find her voice particularly unique or recognisable either. She has some decent songs written for her, that’s about it.

This is so reductive that I'm embarrassed for you, especially the really hot part. It's 2020 and her main audience is girls and gays, being hot is irrelevant.

The whole comparison bears no fruit anyway because Rihanna is a phenomenal vocalist now, as anybody who's heard Anti even once knows.

I don’t know where to put this but while I never REALLY got into Don’t Start Now (I hate the “so moved on it’s scary” line and I can’t get past it), I loved the live in LA version thing on YouTube, where she’s just jamming with a live band and they’re all mates and it’s so organic and real. I also liked the totally identical version of that on Jimmy Kimmel :eyes:

Who cares if she doesn’t have the pipes of Mariah? She’s delivering on all levels. :disco:
