I was never a huge Duran Duran fan in the '80s but I was definitely there for their mini '90s revival.

These two singles were so special. I still go back to them and for once :eyes: Simon LeBon seems to get the vocals right.

Anyway - which of the two do you prefer?

I am pretty confident Ordinary World will win and it probably is the better song but sometimes when Come Undone hits it practically undresses me with its eyes. If a song could do that.

Sultry gem? Mais of course!

Is this 1993? I think these songs are coming up soon in my 90s thread :eyes:

I really love Ordinary World. I wasn't familiar at all with Come Undone but it popped up recently and I have to say it's another great track. No wonder they had a bit of a revival with this album.

I have precious little interest in 80s Duran Duran but these two songs are both amazing. What a remarkable comeback for them. Ordinary World by a hair.

Shame they went straight from this to that ill-advised covers album where they massacred 'White Lines'.

Is the rest of the Wedding Album any good? I'd always been tempted but never got round to it at the time. Suppose I should give it a stream!

I never really cared for the macho '80s stuff and 'Rio' and 'Hungry Like the Wolf' can do one.

I do like 'Is There Something I Should Know' though...

I don’t mind the big 80s stuff, but I’d never choose to listen to any of it, except maybe Save a Prayer.

Who else remembers that awful album they did with Timbaland?

Dreadful

I'm afraid it'll have to be Come Undone for me on this Good Friday of our lord and saviour Chappell Roan

In my future life as an exotic dancer this would be my signature song.

Ordinary World

I quite like the 80s stuff though I can only do his voice in small doses at a time

Come Undone pops up on all those Easy 90s playlists, and it's absolutely fine. Ordinary World is obviously a late career moment of genius.

I note Aurora also did covers of Sleeping Satellite and Summer Son.

No quality control 10/10

A rare example of me preferring the male vocal. The Aurora take is nice enough but too blanded out even for me.

Dreaming and The Day It Rained Forever were decent though.

Amazing it took 33 minutes to mention the 99p dance version AND top 5 hit.

who dies?
Funky of course
I take a break from lovemaking to change CDs and I slip Put yourself in my place on
he turns to me and says “what is this shit”
I smile wickedly as I twist an ice pick into his abdomen
I walk out dramatically and say
“That’s Kylie Minogue you asshole”
My character then slams the door, lights a cigarette and walks into the rain in search of the next straight acting victim.

Who slaps you in the bathroom after you say “Wish me luck”

No ordinary world is very plain, monochromatic and vanilla, whereas Come undone feels much more sensual sticky and raw and Lamia's (I think that was her name?) vocal parts are fabulous.

Love a bit of AI roleplay.

Both excellent.

I like most of the eighties stuff and since All You Need Is Now they've done some good singles with a slight update on the sound.

:wow:

Ordinary World is possibly their best ever single - it's a tussle between that and Save A Prayer, I reckon.

I love both but Come Undone is something I go out of my way to play. It feels unlike anything else they’ve done.

I love quite a lot of Duran Duran singles - in addition to these two, Skin Trade, Notorious, The Reflex, Is There Something I Should Know and Hungry Like The Wolf would be my favourites. He really does have a voice that grates very quickly, though.

The Wedding Album was the only album of theirs I bought. Looking at the tracklist now, it's only Too Much Information and Femme Fatale that leap out, though.

Oh, and 80s Roger Taylor in me now

Actually, I did buy Arcadia's So Red The Rose at the time as well. Not entirely sure why, as I hadn't bought any Duran albums at that point, and I don't remember particularly loving Election Day.

Gasping and gaping.

I had to remind myself which of FGTH Mark O'Toole was.

Pleased to see 80s Harrison Ford getting some recognition, and I bet @Ellie is here for it.
