Eastenders 2020

Obviously they made the right decision to announce what is coming up later this week from an ethical point of view, but I’ve come around to it being the right thing from a dramatic point of view too.

I just think that sense of impending doom adds a lot to these episodes, as difficult a watch as they can be at times.

I am really dreading Friday in a way that I am not quite sure if I should watch it.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

Some big-ish news announced today.

Jake Wood (Max Branning) is leaving. For good. They have promised an 'explosive' exit. I wonder if they would kill him off. With some of the stuff he has got up to, it wouldn't surprise me.

That would be EPIC. It probably means no return in the near future for Jac Jossa though, but I suspect she is not interested in that anyway.

Yesterday I kept willing Chantelle to just tell Mitch. Karen and Mitch getting through what happens and trying to come to terms with it is already making me sad :(

Did anyone watch it? I need someone to SPILL before I decide whether to watch or not.

@COB

I’m assuming/hoping he pushed her over or something and she banged her head rather than drowning her or strangling her or the like? :(

What a twisted twisted character Gray is, and I never saw that method of death coming. I thought he’d just push her down the stairs as would be most easy to make look like an accident.

I didn’t completely buy all of Chantelle’s behaviour though, with her snapping and standing up to him just waiting for him to lash out. She really had SO many opportunities to get out of the door before he blocked her in. And why did she once again call Kheerat with her bloody back to the door after knowing he’d snuck up on her in the cafe?

Yes, I was worried about seeing him beat her to death but it's not like that - still quite difficult to watch though! I thought it was very well done though.

The one thing I took issue with was her not using the burner phone to quickly text something to Kheerat (like 'please come here he's threatened to kill the kids') rather than trying to phone over and over.

I watched it and I rarely do. You can’t exactly blame her for not acting rationally after he had just threatened to kill her children.

Loved the filming style tonight.

The Chantelle actress really rose to the occasion. Gray less so but still gripping.

Fair point, you wouldn't be thinking straight it's true!

Stacey stealing from Ruby.

“I always found rubies a bit TACKY.” :D

They've given Patrick coronavirus! He wants to watch out at his age :(

It also seems a shame to ruin Stacey and Ruby's friendship, but I suppose we'll see what happens there.
Also apparently Lacey Turner is having another break very soon, as she's pregnant again. I wonder if we'll see her run off with Max, only to return later for whatever contrived reason.

Ugh the timing probably does match up doesn’t it... I wish they would leave that Stacey and Max storyline, it’s gotten more tedious and unbelievable every time they’ve revisited it in the last decade.

Also a shame she’ll be off again so soon as I’d imagine that means they won’t bother trying to rebuild her marriage to Martin.

Do we know if JANINE is returning at Christmas? I have also heard very little about the BIANCA return since Covid, so may she well be the returnee at Christmas?

I’m starting to get a tad worried they’re going down the “secret family” route with the Carters, particularly now we’ve seen Frankie sniffing about (@Tisch love, have you caught up yet?), even though they stretched the believability of that family to its absolute limits already.

Who is Frankie?

I wonder if travel restrictions have put paid to Bianca’s return for the time being.

Janine would certainly be very popular but I’m not sure where she’d fit in at the moment so it could be yet another case of an iconic character being ruined by the writers not having a clue what to do with them.

Jane maybe?

She seems to have a fondness for Ollie. I just assumed she had lost a kid herself or something.

Yeah we’re being led to believe he reminds her of her dead brother, but it seems like there’s more to it considering it’s being slated as a huge Carter storyline. I hope I’m wrong and it's actually something more inventive.

Not quite! But nearly. Chantelle died last night. :(
