Eastenders 2022

Colin and Barry :disco:
Sonia’s trumpet :disco:

And Sharon and Kathy mentioning that they’re the same age as Dot and Ethel from that photograph :D

I haven't watched Eastenders in years but thoroughly enjoyed both the Dot episodes which I watched out of curiosity. I had a fleeting thought about tuning back in before I decided that would be UTTERLY ridiculous.

They're definitely setting Sharon and Kat up to be the new Pat and Peggy aren't they. A far cry from 20 years ago when they hardly ever shared a scene (and allegedly couldn't stand one another in real life).

Who do we think Ian was speaking to on the phone at the funeral? He is coming back permanently in Spring. Do we thing JANE is coming back with him?

I hadn't seen that he was coming back in the Spring. I'm glad to hear it - I feel confident he'll be written a lot better this time around, the show is in the great place. I'd LOVE it if Jane also came back, although Laurie Brett seems to have been constantly in work since leaving so I'd worry that it would be a short term thing and they'd split them up again if she did.

Reet are you sure that Adam is coming back in the spring? I haven't seen it anywhere.

There are rumours that FatBoy is alive after there was a shot of a card saying 'Mrs B. Forever in my heart. Arthur x'.

On Ian, the Daily Mail reported it - not officially confirmed but it would make sense as his play wraps up in March.

The card was a great little Easter Egg to put in there even if it doesn't lead to anything.

The Fail and The Snu were both reporting he is returning in Spring.

I felt Fatboy got an unfair ending but he doesn’t need to come back now.

Agreed. The little hint that he’s out there somewhere is a lovely touch, but there would be nothing for him to do if he returned.

I’ve only just caught up on this week. Wonder if Sonia will be hit with a massive inheritance tax bill.

I missed an episode last week. Did Sonia just get the house or the majority of Dots money too. Was Dot not a millionaire after inheriting all of Dr Legg’s money and possessions?

Looks like covid scuppered it, but it wasn’t meant to be a full time return like I thought.

Carol Jackson was a fantastic character and Lindsey Coulson is an amazing actress but I think the character sort of fizzled out towards the end of her last tenure and I don’t think they knew what to do with her which eventually contributed to the actress leaving.

You know they don’t really say. She gives her other grandchildren £10k each, great grandchildren £1k, bunch of stuff from Jim to Carol and Jack, but Dotty kind of screams and interrupts before we get the full extent of what was left to Sonia.

You know this odd re-telling of history that Janine has when she tells tales of “growing up in The Vic” - is it supposed to be some deluded fantasy of hers? She lived in the pub for all of a few months as a child, then a very brief time as a teen before Peggy threw her out and most of her time was fleeting between the B&B and her sister Clare’s place.

Dame Sooz Kempner has put together a handy guide as to what's going on in Eastenders for non viewers watching on Xmas Day

Good episode. Billy in good acting shocker. Loving Shirley skulking around with all the subtlety of 9/11.

This is EXCEPTIONAL :D The alt text on the images and the references to Linda having a "Max Branning baby" are particular highlights!

Tonight’s episode was pretty chaotic! It feels like we have twice as much plot going into Christmas as we did even earlier this week.
